Omas Emotica

I just joined the fountaing pen network so I could do some research on the Emotica. Thank you for all of the insightful information. I have been eyeing up the yellow Emotica for some time...I have a bit of a pension for Yellow.

I agree the clip will probably be a bit of short lived trend, but it still has some interesting functionality. I am glad to hear about the performance as well; it's nice to hear it has function and form...

Thanks all for the help on deciding to purchase the Emotica.

Hi, I purchased an Emotica in yellow about two month ago. I agree with the nice comments about it looks and nib.

Unforturatley for me, it leaked, which I now understand is not uncommon with Omas pens.

In any event, it is Italy being repaired.

I hope the repair works because I really like the way the pens look. I received a good many wows in my office.

I am sorry to hear that your emotica leaked...I have a black one and it has been dropped accidentally twice yet is holding very well together. I was quite surprised at the robustness of the pen, or maybe I was simply just lucky.

Actually Omas seemed to have increased their QC quite a bit. Their new pens seem to be consistently trouble-free.

I am sure you will receive your pen back like new!

This is a great thread on a special pen with some original features - I'm surprised to see that there are just this one review since this pen is rather unique. Hopefully I'll have one Emotica of my own in the not-too-distant future.

Actually, there are several reviews of the Emotica. Just use the search function. It is a nice pen.

Sorry - I had forgot about your excellent review (which I had commented...senile) here and the index update problems. But I think (except for your comparison review) that there are only two reviews on the Emotica. But two reviews are definitely more than one...:)

i recently got an Omas Emotica from Bittner's in Carmel. Wonderful store, wonderful experience buying there. i am a Fountain Pen neophyte--was looking for a pen that was both fun to write with and relatively easy to begin with. The folk's at Bittner's led me to the Emotica. Don't know much about fountain pens, but boy am I having a great time writing now. Once again, nothing but praise for the folks at Bittner's.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
