For sale is my nearly brand new Visconti Homo Sapiens with Medium Nib for SOLD. Includes USPS Priority Tracked/Insured shipping (to the continental US only) and new Visconti black in in plastic V-Bottle. No damage, writes very well, and inlcudes all original packaging and papers.

A bit of back story on the pen and why it's for sale:

I purchased this pen from Bryant at Pentime on March 17th, 2011 and received it March 22nd. The pen was purchased as part of his/her gifts for my fiance and I. Though the wedding isn't until July I decided to give us the pens in mid April so we could sign our wedding shower Thank You cards. Upon testing the pen for about a day with Visconti Blue I noticed a minor blemish in the gold plating on the right side of the nib. Bryant was very helpful with the issue and helped me arrange to have the pen shipped to Visconti/Coles and have the nib exchanged.

While the pen was away getting the nibs swapped my fiance made it quite clear that she wasn't a fan of the pen. She felt it wasn't "pretty enough" to serve as the heirloom I intend it to be. She also wasn't too thrilled that she didn't get to help pick the pen purchased. I'm sure you married gents can sympathize. We've since come to an agreement on another pen, but the better half insists I sell this one.

So, I received this pen back from Coles on Thursday and the plating on the new nib is absolutely perfect. I just inked it this morning to test the nib and write the sample attached. The pen has now only been inked 2-3 times to test and has only been used to write maybe 2-3, maybe 4 pages of text. It's otherwise in better shape than the day I first received it.

Again, the pen will include all of the original packaging, etc (outer box, inner pleather box, manual, DVD, polishing cloth, and plastic wrap). I'll also throw in a new bottle of Visconti Black in the plastic V-Bottle. This was used only to test the nib and write the sample attached. I'm pretty firm at SOLD shipped, but that's already a pretty damn good deal I'm sure you'll agree. I accept payment via Paypal confirmed only and will ship the pen via USPS Priority tracked and insured. Continental US only shipments.

Please PM me if interested or if you have any questions. Thanks!

We feel your pain! I've learned to select things with my wife, rather than without her too!

Yeah, lesson learned.

It's funny, I thought she would flip based on the price, but that really wasn't it. She just wanted to be included on the choice of pen. Go figure.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
