Recommended Posts

I'm focusing my collection and want to sell a few pieces to fund a recent acquisition, so I'm not interested in trading. As usual, I'll be glad to answer questions, but first firm commitment through PM gets the pen. I will ship only to the USA or Canada and prices include USPS Priority Mail shipping in the USA. Shipping and insurance to Canada will be at cost. Payment through PayPal. No boxes or papers unless noted otherwise.

1. Montblanc 146 Pure Silver Solitaire, 18K M nib, has a small dent on the cap and a few very small nicks on the barrel, otherwise in excellent condition, $625

4. Montblanc 100 Anniversary "safety" pen (nib retracts while not in use, but only uses an ink cartridge), 18K M nib, excellent condition (only tested once, still has M sticker), with original box and papers, $450 SOLD

5. Montblanc vintage celluloid 144, 14C OM or OB nib, flat feed. This is a user grade pen, the barrel and ink window have some ambering, the piston knob is marked "F", so it does not have the original nib, the rhodium plating on the nib is heavily worn, the feed was shows some superficial damage, and the clip and rings have significant brassing. However, the pen is in excellent working order, the piston works smoothly, there are no cracks, and I recently replaced the cork. $250

Hi Esov - I have asked a question by PM re the Anniversary.

Thanks.

Too many pens; too little writing.

What a pity, I would have loved the 144. :crybaby:

that poor feed on the pen- it is otherwise a lovely one!

I suspect that the damage to the feed was due to removal of the nib by pulling it with pliers, which may be related to the pen not having the original nib. Unfortunately, that's how I received the pen. I have to check, but I may have a spare 144 feed to replace this one, but most likely it will not be a flat one. I will check tonight and, if I have it, will post pictures.

I was more concerned that you wouldn't ship outside US and Canada. The feed can be fixed no doubt.

MB celluloid 144 is now withdrawn

I found a spare flat feed for the 144 and will withdraw it until I have the time to work on it.

do you want to trade the stainless with a 149?

...more kills the pen than the sword ... as long as the nib is very sharp ....

Thanks for the offer, but at this time I'm only interested in selling it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
