Dear friends,

I offer for sale a Lorenzo de Medici, the most desirable Montblanc pen produced in the Patron of Art series.

The pen is in excellent condition, has been already inked and only hardly used by the previous owner so it doesn't show any scratches, dents or blemishes on the barrel, cap nib (see the pictures). The pen is in near mint condition and has been totally cleaned.

The pen doesn't come with the original wooden box neither the papers.

Everyone knows that it is impossible to find a pen like this one under 8,000 USD with box and papers, I offer mine at the unbelievable price of 5,500 USD Shipping Included all over the world!
I can send more pictures on request. You can contact me at my email address: tissandier@live.com or with a PM.

I have been watching this post with great interest and curiousity. As a newbie to the field, I am curious why this pen is not selling for what appears to be well below the "retail" price. The obvious answer is the lack of box and papers and that the pen is used. That said, it strikes me that if the primary desire of a purchaser is to use the pen themselves, the fact that the pen is used and lacks its original packaging should not command such a large discount provided that the pen is otherwise in excellent condition. Can I conclude from this that the primary (or least a secondary) intention of purchasers of this calibre of pen, is to one day re-sell it?

If that is, in fact, the case, is there an "acknowledged" discount factor that most collectors apply (20%, 30%?) Or does it vary from pen to pen. I would love to get the insight of those more experienced.

You might be able to get better responses in the "Writing Instruments" forum, as it'll be more visible. (and because sales threads are technically not supposed to be for discussion!)
