Okay, so I've finally finished, but couldn't edit my first post anymore, so here it is, in full, again. If a mod wants to zap this into my first post slot and delete that post, that'd be great. :)

A few users tips:

1) I've tried to sort based on the complaint/question, with the result that there are two basic categories - parts and symptoms. Most posts fit cleanly in one or the other, but if you have, for instance, a leaky nib, you may want to check the "nib" area as well as the "pen leaking" area.

2) I've made no effort to screen out outdated, useless, or duplicative replies. The whole point of this is that what seems duplicative to me may have that little sniglet you needed, or the "outdated" information may give you an idea for a better way.

3) I may have missed stuff, surprise. :) I mostly picked up threads that had obvious repair issues from the title. If you were gloating about your 75th Estie, and had a repair issue also, I probably missed it. I am also probably jealous, with my one SJ, but that's neither here nor there. ;) Also, on a similar note, these are only posts from this section of the forum, not the repairs section and not the internets as a whole. There's lots of resources out there, this is just a starting point.

4) I have not really tried to address nib shaping/polishing/grinding here, as that's not really an Estie-specific issue, and there are LOTS more resources out there on that.

Happy researching!

Oh my - very useful indeed. And quite thorough; you even have the "Smelly Pen" thread!

I just wish the Forum software didn't truncate the displayed links - that way we could just scrape the page and save them as a text document. How about attaching a text document we can download and save?

Which of the "Polishing" links is the definitive link to the illusive "Uber-Polish" procedure?

Thanks and Regards, David

I add my thanks for the work; creating a bibliography like this requires both time and thought. Obviously you have done both to provide this real service to Estie fans (I hesitate to use the C word).
Thanks again, Jack (with 168 restored and more coming)

Years ago, I did this very thing with another forum I was a member of, so I can testify that it's quite an intense, time consuming chore. Most appreciated! :clap1:

I think one can just copy the text of the post, paste it into a text document, then click or strip it into a browser to get to any thread, eh?

Best Regards
Paul

Wow, this came just as I was thinking I really need to sit down and review the information I've already come across for replacing the sac on the SJ I bought a few months ago. Perfect timing for this thread to get resurrected -- thanks!

Just want to add my thanks for this index. It still doesn't seem to be sticky--I was lucky enough to stumble across it via a Google search, or who knows when I might have found it.

Anybody interested in updating it? Adding pencils to it, perhaps?

Best wishes,

Here's the 12 April 2011 list as a MS Word document with full URLs, from which you should be able to click through directly to the site. (On a PC you probably have to push the Control key while you click on the link.)

If the powers that be will pin a thread like "My First Estie" then they should durn well pin this thread, which offers something usefull. Or are they trying to pin only kitschy stuff?

If you want the thread pinned (and it's not a bad idea) you might want to PM or email Brian. He's a busy man and maybe he hasn't seen all the requests in this one thread.
