Montegrappa Chaos, "stallone Pen"

Bryant

Recommended Posts

Oh, don't worry, there are plenty people wanting one of these pens.

I think I read in the Italian magazine Penna, some years back, that these LEs are produced primarily for the russian market where they are bought by the Nouveau Riche.

People buying expensive objects just to show they can.

And if you look at the "millionaire fairs" that are held here in Western Europe, our Nouveau Riche also have a tendency to buy expensive bling.

It's actually on the cover of Fahrney's Pens this month:

There was an article in Pen World two issues ago. I really like the pen. This is definately a love it or hate it pen. The $5000.00 price for silver, gold is much higher, puts it out of my range. I would not mind getting as a gift. It would have to be from someone that DOES NOT have access to my checking account.

I like the pen but not the price.

Erring; for he with this rebellious rout

Fell long before; nor aught aviled him now

To have built in Heaven high towers; nor did he scape

By all his engines, but was headlong sent

With his industrious crew, to build in Hell

Is this Chaos pen a piston filler or an cartridge converter? There are no pen specifications...

It appears to use the same body mold as the "Dragon" which is piston-filled. I would just call or email FPH:

I really want to know if Montegrappa will can sell all the 1000 pieces for $5000 each. Most pen fans are a bit conservative in terms of design.

Edit- There are no photo showing the nib. I'm curious to know why. :hmm1: Forget, I google it. There are some photos showing the nib. Nothing special.

It is hideous, but I would find it worth the price if I were a president signing a treaty. Imagine the pundit reaction if Obama signed a bill with it... Or gave it as a gift to Boehner.

a pure object of marketing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Firstly, I like both as they are different and make a statement, wether or not you like the statement is a personal thing but I have found historically the things that upset the masses the most in terms of design are usually the things that the masses when much older wish they had owned and been a part of the avant grade at the time! History is a great reminder friends!

Secondly, I work a lot with Actors, some very well known and some know Sly very well. Firstly, and these are not my words, he is a puppy dog, a really truly lovely, loyal friend. Secondly he is one of the most respected writers, producers, Directors and actors in Hollywood.

It is just the press and the public that don't get that. In the industry he is very well loved and respected and known for being a stickler for detail and quality.

All the best.

Ian

Holy Jebus. What I wouldn't give to bring that pen to a meeting at work. It would blow people's minds. tongue.gif

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
