Edison Extended Pearl Bulb Filler

Well here are the pictures of my newest Edison Pen

Now I opted for an ebonite pen. This is my first ebonite, and I am anxious to see if the reputation lives up to the hype of this material. I opted for an 18k 0.9mm Cursive Italic. It has lovely line variation. Its a tad toothy for me, but Im gonna give it a go for a week and if its bothering me, Brian stands behind his product. The section that holds that cap to the bulb filler is almost seamless to the main body. I opted for a smokey/transparent window in order so that I can see the ink level. Brian's bulb fillers hold a tremendous amount of ink. This will definitely be used for the next week straight. In that time we will get to know one another. I highly recommend Brian's products, and would encourage anyone on the fence at least sending him an email.

In order to appreciate the sweet, you must truly taste the bitter....

I hear people complain in other threads about huge steps from barrel to the section, but this pen has a huge step and I've never heard anybody complain. It must not be that big of a deal.

Stunning pen. Love the matte finish and fuzzy ink window.

Love the shape of this pen, and the huge ink window is very useful! Thanks for sharing!

Fountain pens aren't a collection, it's an insatiable obsession!

Great pen! I normally don't like ink windows, but the translucent window is really neat. And the gold logo on the nib is a nice touch!

OoooOOOOoo! That's a beauty! I love the ink window and the black ebonite -- very sweet and sharp. Beautiful pen.

It's a fairly big deal to me. I only use my Pearls for short stretches because of the step. It's why I made sure to buy a Herald as my third Edison. Brian makes a pen for everyone. :)

Hm. I've never noticed the step in the Pearl until I looked at Isaac's pictures. It does seem large in Isaac's pen, but I just now held up my Pearl to the monitor to compare, and it seems the same, so I just wrote with it... and I've never noticed that step, and the Pearl feels comfortable in my hand.

But now I understand what people mean when they talk about the large step from barrel to section.

Every time I see a thread with pictures of some lucky person's Edison, all I can think of is the phrase, 'Pen Porn'.......... ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
