Here's a pen I "restored" for an FPNer recently. I've had the thing for nearly a month I think, with most of that time spent soaking the pen to get the section off the barrel. But I got it.
So here's a quick review before it goes back hom. :crybaby:
And yes, it is one SWEET little pen. If the Pilot C742 I own didn't cost so much, I'd trade it for this in a minute. Am I crazy? Yeah I'd say so.

Ink is some burgundy mix. Maybe Diamine Syrah with something else... or Noodler's Red plus Purple. I can't remember.

And I'll take photos to upload very soon to go with the 'restoration' photos.

Here's the Hoover nib from a few different angles.

Button parts.
You can see the little tab on the press-bar broke off at some point.

There's a little metal ring tab doo daddy, where the press-bar tab fit into. Pretty cool.
But, doesn't work b/c the tab is broken.

very nice pen  thanks for sharing
Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Thanks for the compliment! I'll be shipping it back home today though. THe roads are cleared up enough so I can finally get down to the post office.

Great pics, Shawn! I'm looking VERY forward to using that pen to write my strange poetry and prose. I have a feeling it will become my pen of choice, even over my current fave, my Mabie Todd Swan Minor No. 2 with nice fine flexy nib I bought on eBay long, long ago.

You sir, are a fountain pen saint in my book. I'm starting to pass around the fables now.

Watch your mailbox for gratitude!

THANK YOU

Michael

On its way! Using the Hoover every day. Fan-tas-tic pen. The bomb.

Hey Shawn and/or Michael, did either of you ever find out anything about this pen? Where it came from or who made it, etc.? It reminds me of some of the second/third tier pens from the 20s and 30s...perhaps a National product?

I don't know anything about it, but I do remember reading something about it some where here before. I think. Hmmm....

different quick searches revealed this:

Cool! I should've used the search function in the first place! :)

Some of those off-branded vintage Italians are fantastic pens. My Black Star is still one of my favorite pens...ever.
