Canadian Online Stationery Retailers?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a good quality stationery retailer based in Canada that offers online ordering of their product. Do any of you have a recommendation? Thanks!

Stylus Fine Pens in Edmonton and Papeterie Nota Bene in Montreal are the two that spring to mind, both with many supporters here on FPN. I haven't ordered online from either of them, but Stylus is my local stationer, and it's a great little shop with a fantastic selection.

Ditto. The people who work at Stylus are also very knowledgeable and very happy to help - there's no such thing as a silly question at that store! Their prices are quite reasonable as well.

That's a good idea - will have to check out Amazon, see what they have.

Yes, the best prices on Rhodia that I've seen in CAN stores, and better Moleskine prices than most equivalent Chapters stuff. Plus shiping is free over $25. I know it's not a fancy stationary store, but prices are excellent....

Where are you finding the Rhodia stuff? Amazon.ca's only returning Moleskine for me and I can't find Rhodia anywhere....

Ooh, thanks! Just found it - that's definitely cheaper than at the stores I've found the webnotebook at. A pity they don't sell Rhodia's other products on Amazon, though.

You can also try Laywine's in Toronto, but they do mail-order by request, not a formal online store.

If you wish to save, wait for the 20%-off sale at the previously mentioned Papeterie Nota-Bene in Montreal. The owner Russell really knows his stuff. Give him a call through the 1-800 number because I think the sale comes this spring...

I should also add that Laywine's has a store-wide sale every year for the entire duration of May. Anywhere from 20-80% off.

No idea if the sale prices apply to the mail-order side of the business, but I can't see why they wouldn't. Give Peter a call and ask!

For some shameless self promotion. We're opening up too, Alexander Pen Co. You'll be able to get Rhodia, G.Lalo, Clairfontaine and the like online at my store. We're based out of Toronto.

Check out Stylus Fine Pens & Desk Accessories in Edmonton AB.

Personally, I've always phoned in my order, but they may have an on-line shopping option. I don't know.

Stylus is my regular source for the Japanese APICA CD11 (A5 size) notebooks that I use for journals. Real nice folks. No sales tax in Alberta, "yet".

I've ordered from stylo.ca, they have really good customer service and the packaged shipped to me (in Mississauga) quite earlier than I expected!

Plus they have free shipping after 50$

Wonder pens has a flat fee which is great too!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
