Pelikan Change To Metal Logo

Hello all I am new to this forum so I am sorry if this topic has already been covered.

I recently bought a Pelikan M800 black/blue and was puzzled that it had an all metal logo on the cap.

I have contacted Pelikan today and this is what I was told, please see the attachment. Hope this is useful.

Best to all,

Bob

I'm sure that this has been discussed in other threads but it doesn't hurt to have the link. Thanks for providing it. Personally, I rather liked the older logo. And, since I'm well stocked with M800s and M1000s it is probably just as well.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm new to this game and hadn't seen this new type of emblem before.

I like the pen though, and was surprised how dark the blue stripes are in real life.

Mind you the UK is like Mordor at the moment so everything is dark I suppose!

Regards

Bob

Thanks for the link, lookfar. Pelikan management have always provided prompt responses to any questions I've asked about their products, both present and past

I like the new metal cap and logo. Why would you want plastic instead of a 24k gold plated cap? Definitely looks classier.

People are often more conservative than they think.

I think it looks good. Over two years or so in pens, I have changed my mind to what looks good, more than once.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Modern Pelikan nibs are excellent.

It's a myth that EN/PF/vintage nibs are better.

NICE. Now if Pelikan would only bring back the E|N nibs too...

I never really thought the old logo seemed appropriate for pens that cost hundreds of $, but there was something so nice and comforting about the understated character of the old logo. It reminded me of Pelikan's seriousness and committment to quality over other luxury pen brands that make so much of their corporate logo. I think the new logo is alright -- it just might add too much 'bling,' especially on the models (800, 1000) with larger caps. I'm about to order an m1000 so curious to see if it'll have the new logo.

I also like the modern Peli nibs, like M800 that is stiff, but buttery smooth. However I like more, if nib has a bit of flex, like modern M1000. Of course, M1000 nib is not a flex nib, but, for my taste, and everyday writing, a springy nib (like M1000) is the heaven. Souveran nibs from the 80's and early 90's are soft (or springy) too. They are great!

Pelikan vintage nibs, like semi-flex from the 50's are also nice, but, in my opinion, not for my everyday writing. I have 2 of those Peli from the 50's and just use them at home. They provide a great writing pleasure.

  • 2 weeks later...

Will the matching ballpoints, mechanical pencils and rollerballs also get the new metal logo? I'm especially curious about the m400 ballpoints and mechanical pencils that have the push button mechanisms. Thinking of buying a set and would like it all to match.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
