Hi RMN / D.ick,

I've also added this to my watch list :) I found the handy button at the top of the thread. Now I get a notification for each reply when I'm not connected to the forum. Will have to figure out whether this setting isn't a bit too broad :D Thanks too for the pointer to the content list. I tend not to hang around in my profile for this stuff, so it's good to know the access is there :D

Good question! Any suggestions?

Guess it has been a while since a last meeting in the Netherlands?

Is anyone interested to get together in one of the next few months, at a location best fitting out of the people attending?

Hmm, would be interesting. No idea about how/what/where/when. Maybe the hague, Akkermans? :)

Dear @Nikolaos, all,

I just found this thread, so I'm happy to ask if you are still interested in the idea of a pen club in the Netherlands. If so, let's organize it together!

A fellow FPNer and I have started talking about this, beginning to envision a structure and set of exciting activities. We are looking for other pen enthusiasts who think it's a good idea to form a club and meet periodically to talk about, do something with pens, share know-how, etc.

If we can find all who would be happy for a pen club to form in the Netherlands and who would want to contribute, we could see the entire ecosystem benefit, perhaps including @La Couronne du Comteand @FrankvK, whom I've seen in this thread.

Moreover, with the right people involved, we could also stimulate each other to develop unique projects and share unique knowledge internationally.

To begin with finding the people - you! - I read carefully this and the earlier thread:

I am sure there are others, and if you know them please share.

Comments, suggestions, and ideas are most welcome. This is the right moment we can align and shape visions, make things happen.

Thank you in advance and let's all help each other through a pen club in the Netherlands.

Dear all,

An important update, from @DvdRiet, @Nikolaos, and myself:

Look forward to your replies! Let's meet in person in Utrecht, on June 6.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
