Caran D'ache Repair

I was interested in sending my caran d'ache back to the company for a repair. The pen leaks around the seal where the body of the pen meets the base of the nib. Right at that junction, it leaks significatnly. I know caran d'ache has a lifetime warrenty on the pens, but I have had no luck in finding out how to utilize this warranty and send it back to repair. I've been on the site and sent them 2 emails stating my question, but I have recieved no response in return. I was hoping someone would have some insight into the best way to go about this. Thank you in advance.

Hi Chris: Don't know if you are in the US but this very nice guy who answered the phone on a Sunday afternoon is the US repair for Caran d'ache. They will probably replace the entire front end, at least that's what he told me regarding the Ecridor series...

I just called them, and while Bob Nurin was on vacation the man with whom I spoke said they no longer handle caran d'ache. He recommended 1-800-442-2706. That turns out to be "Swiss Army." I called them and they do indeed repair caran d'ache pens on warranty. There is a $10 handling fee. My problem is exactly the same as Chris's. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Update on caran d'ache repair. I sent the pen to "Swiss Army" the end of September. They called me a week later to say they could not repair the pen so they were sending it to Geneva. Two weeks later they called again to say that Cd'A Geneva said they would repair it under warranty at no cost. Rather amazing considering that I bought it over 20 years ago (in Geneva). It arrived last week and is in perfect condition. It looks as if they replaced the front end including the nib.

So their "lifetime guarantee" is real.

Gives me another reason to miss Switzerland.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
