Just for fun, can we see a writing sample? Lovely work, Pendleton!

Here you go Aubrey ~ happyberet.gif

These are my 2 favorite personal MBs. The Bordeaux 146 from the 90s and a much earlier 342 that had a badly mangled nib when it cam to me.

I really like MBs and tend to keep the ones I get. cloud9.gif They respond very well to PendletonPoint customizing.

Hi Pendleton, nice-looking line variation on those MBs! :clap1:

I had read in an earlier post of yours that you were taking outside work (ie. doing custom nibs grinds on pens that were shipped to you) only until the end of December 2010....Have you extended this deadline?

I have a MB Noblesse Oblige with a rather boring Medium nib that I'd love to have "Pendletoned" ("Pendletonned"?...or is it "Pendleton Pointed"?? ;)).....

Pendletuned sounds good eureka.gif .. thanks for the thought Maja. Yes, I have been enjoying an extended "mail-in" biz and boast the quickest turn around known among nibsters of @ 1 week! Bear in mind that I expect to grind at the LA Pen Show... yes, I'll be doing some fine Pendletuning here at home and at the LA Show Feb 17 - 20. Below is the info that has been working for me and the "tunees":

Dearpen friend ~

Pleasecopy and paste and fill out the form below, and ship it with the pen:

> One slip for 2 or 3 pens is OK aslong as the instructions are clear for each pen. J

> Empty & rinse out the ink please = ] … Ink usually leaves a mess in the mailer which can stain someof your pens.

> Please Package securely ~ envelopes are not safe ~ BubbleWrap in a Priority Small Flat Ratebox is good.

> I do trust the domestic mails, but "SignatureConfirmation" is good for pricier pens and lets you know that your pengets into my hands.

PayPal Advance payment is not necessary, but will expedite your return. For a tracking number, please make your PayPalpayment for "goods" to get a tracking # and speed it up evenmore as the return postage is much easier to print. J

I love the term "Pendletuned"!

Glad to hear that you are still taking on outside work. I shall have to prep my MB to ship to you next month. I'm afraid I can't make it to the L.A. show this year, but I wish you a safe trip there & back. Have fun!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just another satisfied customer. Today I got back my mb 144, which Pendleton turned into a very impressive cursive italic. The work far exceeded my expectations, especially after finding out that the nib had been somewhat "butchered" by a previous owner. The communication with Pendleton was great. He really made me believe he cared about my property, and wanted the pen to turn out perfect. I'd recommend him to anyone, and would trust him with even my most expensive pens.

Thanks again Pendleton.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
