How much would someone like Richard Binder charge to take my Montblanc 146 Medium nib and make it something like a stub, oblique or italic? What would my options be for nib changes and nibmeisters to do it?

why don't you ask him???!

There are more nib masters out there - I could tell you of five!

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy your 146 as a stub or oblique or CI - they are lovely pens!

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

Richard Binder posts his prices on his website:

Looks like regrinding to a Cursive Italic or Stub (with or without Oblique) would run $40-$50. If additional smoothing or tine adjustment was required, another $25-$30 would be charged.

Read through Mr. Binder's three part section of Specialty Nibs to understand the tradeoffs involved. And remember, when regrinding a nib, the Nibmeister needs to start with a broader nib than you want to end up with.

Seeing a Nibmeister at a Pen Show and having the regrind done while you are sitting with the Nibmeister is, in my view, the best way to assure you get what you want. It's also the quickest way.

Here is a link to the Pen Shows where Mr. Binder will be regrinding clients' nibs:

Have fun. I'm a fan of broad ultra-smooth ultra-wet Cursive Italics.
