Oh Combos! If I had read this earlier, I would have posted this one sooner. It is a Schnell Pencilpen. It is supposedly by the person who started the fad.

This looks exactly like mine does, but mine is multi colored, and says Champion, Made in USA on the clip. Does anyone know where I can get lead for the pencil, and how to put it in? I like the way the pen writes. I will be interested to see how it does with my Black Bulletproof Noodler's, when it arrives in the next day or so.

I have just acquired one of these combos for around 15 dollars on eBay. It has a number 6 nib, and the pusher seems to be fine for the pencil. It does not have an eraser. It would be really cool to have a fountain pen/pencil/eraser combo. I am an artist also, and have just recently discovered the versatility of the fountain pen. I have been on a quest for the perfect pen, ever since Pilot stopped making the one i used to draw with.

Now I can buy a bottle of ink, and fill up the pen with the nib that matches my mood.I have some Noodler's Bulletproof black coming, plus every color of Dr. Ph. Martins concentrated water colours. I used to hand color B&W photos with the Dr.Ph.Martins.I got the entire set as a wedding gift in 1987.They have been stored in a cool dark place, and while some of them had evaporated a little, their colors were all stable. I just added some purified water to those that had evaporated a bit. They are not waterproof or light fast, but they are sure fun to play with. I can't wait for the Noodler's to arrive!

I am still trying to figure out how to share a photo from Picasa or Google Drive.

Although you have upgraded to Supporter Rhodium (Thanks for that) the software still has the precautions for new members.

In a few days you will see a button "Upload" on top of the screen, in the row just below the FPN Logo.

Clicking on that button will open a new Tab/window where you can upload a pic from your computer or another website.

The picture will be stored on our servers. From that pic you will see 3 codes, choose BB-code. Copy that code and paste it in your post and the pic will be shown inline in your post.

The good thing about upload, over the method you used now, is that even if your account elsewhere is terminated or you accidentally erase some pics, the pictures is stored safely here on FPN.

Enjoy

I am drooling over the colors!

Old celluloid is my weakness.

I have a number of combos, from a little Peter Pan up to a no-name which is huge. Just checking quickly I see that at least one is a Parker, one is an Arnold, several have no names, and I am sure there are Wearevers in there but I haven't looked at every pen I own this morning...

The hefty green no-name is one of my treasures because it has stamped on it "London Shrine Club Outing August 7, 1941." Maybe they were celebrating the end of the Blitz, or maybe it was their annual outing and they just kept it going, but somehow I find this impressive. An outing, complete with imprinted pen/pencil combo - genteelly prepared for anything...

Here's a pencil/pen from my father-in-law. He's 94, so I have no idea how old the pen is... It says Streamline on it. He's obviously used it a lot. He started off as a clerk in the Tacoma WA police dept after WWII.

I have a solid gold 14kt Twinpoint fp/mp combo made in NYC, with my grandfather's name engraved on the cartouche. Needs a new ink sac. Looks like a custom nib, maybe a broad cursive italic. In fact, the nib looks like RIchard Binder's work, but the pen's probably too old for that! Any idea of the likely date or value?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
