Hi From Kamloops Bc

I have this posted under another new member's message, but think I better start my own. Don't want to be lost in the crowd! So Hi everyone from Kamloops BC :vbg:

What a world I've just discovered. I've been giddy about pens and paper for as long as I can remember and yet..there is so much information about them I don't know. It's so nice to find others with the same obsession.

I would love to attend one of Vancouver's Pen Club meetings.. I'll have to find out if they accept out-of-towners.

So as far as pens go. I've had a Sheaffer Lady Skripsert 642 for the last 28 years as a gift from my Dad at Graduation. I find myself biased in their favour, the Sheaffer, and have started collecting more but it could just be my inexperience with other pen brands. Anyway, looking forward to my pen-education and getting to know you.

W2FPN.gifWelcome Leah, It is great to have another fountain pen enthusiast aboard. FPN members will definitely fuel your penchant for wonderful writing instruments, ink and papers, but that is not all, be sure to check-out the wonderful non pen related topics in CHATTER. I enjoyed your introduction and am pleased that you decided to join in the discourse.

Thanks everyone for the friendly welcome. I'm going to have a good look around before I ask any of my questions. I will probably find the answers in the forum pages. Talk to you all soon.

Thank you Parker Quink and Wolverine. Kamloops is beautiful, different than the landscape I was used to, living mostly in the Cariboo and Prince Rupert. But I do love the look of the light on the hills.

welcome, Leah. I love your pic, in a previous life I had a job that required a lot of travel and work through the BC interior, and I still drive from Alberta to Vancouver (home town) yearly, through this area. Never been to Prince Rupert, though we plan to get there some year!

Some fun shops to check out in Vancouver when you get the chance, but in the meantime there's some great on-line shops. Enjoy the forum!

Oops, I missed limesally. Hi! Thank you. I hope the sun's shining for you when you go to Prince Rupert. It's so beautiful when it is. If you haven't already been, you should plan to include Queen Charlotte Is. (Haida Gwaii) The beaches are amazing.

Hello Leah: Glad you are with us here in Pen land. I am also from BC. Sign up for the Vancouver Pen Club they will be happy for another person interested in Pens. I like the colours of Parker Vacumatics so that's my favourite at the moment.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
