You'll love the DeAtramentis Document Black. Make sure you got the DOCUMENT Black. There are two blacks and the other one won't work.

Its all I use now. If you let it sit in your pen for a month, unused it will dry out. Easy enough to flush it with some ammonia and water and refill. Its a dye based ink so no pigment clogs. But, I am using the Noodler flex pens for the most part, so the feed and nib just pop right out, quick ammonia soak gets all of the dried ink off after a quick soak. I'm not real conscientious about cleaning my pens or using them enough to avoid them drying out, LOL. I don't draw very much these days, but its the only ink I use. We have so many more options in the dip pen ink world. My ultimate favorite there is the DR Martins High Carbon Black Star ink, super dense black, perfect flow in dip pens and brush.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
