If you want a Fountain Pen that will make your collection Stand Out then look for the Abalone 8802 which in myopinion looks better than a Mont Blanc, this pen is sometimes called the Mother of Pearl penJinhao uses bothnames I know because I had the pleasure of Naming it,I also have the pleasure of owning 3 ofthem. Trust Me,oneill

These do look really nice. How does the Jinhao 8802 compare in size and weight to the 500?

If you are using the cartridges in the Ahab, doesn't that make it into a cartridge pen rather than an eyedropper?

well it's still fill up with an eyedropper =P

so that is good enough for me to be called an eyedropper..

Frankly, I'd imagine if you can call something as godawful to try to write with as the thing on the end of the Ahab a flex nib, any other misnamings or misrepresentations are just icing the cake.

:P

I think Mech-for-I has several he posted about before.

I'm ordering one or two at the end of this week and will post a review as soon as I can! I just wish the medium nib version wasn't always out of stock.

I'll check that out.

Looking forward to it. Wondering if it is a more substantial/sturdy option out there. The colors are very welcoming.

It seems like it could be what you were looking for with that c/c option in a chinese pen... that idea you put in my head.

I know chrisrap is coming out with a video on the 323.

The Jinhao 911 is a flighter style cartridge converter pen. Newish model, the one I got looks pretty good and has an airtight cap to boot!

I agree, the 911 is a great first flighter for anyone who wants to try a hooded nib before investing in something more expensive.

That is intriguing.

The air tight seal is my concern with the PenBBS pens. I like to see inner liners or O-rings on pens for assurance if I know nothing about them.

No fears with the Penbbs pens, they have 0-rings all over the place. I'm really impressed with the seal between section and barrel and with the cap. The 308 is a great pen!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
