The Battle Of The Wet Noodles: Waterman Vs. Swan Vs. Conklin

THE BATTLE OF THE "WET NOODLES"

The odds of finding one wet noodle nib are ... HARD

The odds of finding one wet noodle nib fitted in a fully restored vintage pen are ... HARDER

The odds of finding multiple wet noodles nibs fitted in fully vintage restored pens from multiple brands are ... EXTREMELY HARD

This is what this listing is about. Six fully restored vintage pens, all fitted with wet noodle nibs. WATERMAN, MABIE TODD SWAN, and CONKLIN display the phenomenal flexying and writing capabilities they offered to pen users in the early part of the last century. This pen offering will be quite a treat for those of you, who like me, are passionate about about flexy nibs. Enjoy the offering and as you scroll down the pictures, you decide which pen/nib/manufacturer wins this battle of the "wet noodles"

Disclaimer: In fairness to the pens/nibs offered below, I do not consider myself proficient at writing with superflex or wet noodle in XF or even finer nibs. Mastering those very light strokes is a skill I really covet to learn ... hopefully that will take place in the future. Many of you flexy writers can do a lot better than my humble writing samples below.

The two Waterman wet noodles are part of another LISTING. However, I decided to include them in this offering as it is not often you will see these many wet noodles in one place.

I have also added additional vintage pens from Mabie Todd Swan, Conklin, and Wahl Eversharp. Most of them have flexy nibs.

Hi Mauricio,

Could you do us a summary without the pics of what's sold, on hold and still on sale? It's hard for old farcical articles like me to join up the dots.

TIA

When you're good at it, it's really miserable.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
