Looking For A Roller Ball That Uses Bottle Ink

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a Roller ball pen that uses bottled ink either using a converter or Long cartridges. I need these to sign and carbon copy forms at work which I am unable to do with a FP.

I do know that there are a few with the option of a short international cartridge, but these are not permanent and I need to use Noodler's black ink. Any suggestions?:notworthy1:

I think Monteverde had one at one point, but the reviews were decidedly mixed (I bought a Monteverde FP recently, and all the posts about the brand were about the roller ball when I searched).

Visconti Rembrandt Ecoroller?

My thoughts exactly. The roller tip is supposed to last 20 fills. Seems pretty economical and environmentally friendly.

Kaweco Sport Rollerball

I know the monteverde ink roller reviews are a bit mixed.

I did look at the Kaweco sport roller ball but this website says it only accepts the standard short cartridge.

I understand that the old pelikan rollerball takes the long cartridge and therefore can acomodate a standard converter. Any one know where i can get one?

The Kaweco Sport is actually an eyedropper fill. As a result, I only recommend the Ice series.

Noodler's just released a new roller ball version that fills with (piston fill) bottle ink. It should be in stock early next week on my website isellpens.com .

I had a look at the Kaweco sport ink ball. Is this the one you are referring to? It tkes short cartridges. Can this be converted to an eye drop filler?. Does it need an O ring?

You could just empty the international short carts and refill them with anything you want, including Noodler's Black.

That sounds very interesting. Can you let us know when the pen is listed here please? Also, any idea now on the pricing of it or any details you can share already?

Thank you.

Take care,

I don't know about the old Pelikan rollerball, but the Pelikano rollerball I bought a few months ago is horrible. It takes a standard converter but when I loaded it up with Noodler's Black the output looked like a faded grey and it was scratchy. Bleh!

Any idea if they will offer different size tips? Like .5mm vs .7mm or whatever.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
