This is my most recent MB purchase (which found the way to my home, that is, others are on their way....)

It is a Le Grand Burgundy Red with an OB or even OBB nib.

One of those is on my list. An OB or OBB nib would be a bonus!

Nib size looks very similar to mine. Is it a F nib?

It has been a year since the 1912 was launched, I eventually brought it home last week !!

I love this pen. I fell in love with it over a year ago, and almost bought it then, almost bought it a month ago, and even though I thought I had talked myself out of it (I find it pretty heavy), I STILL find myself lusting after it. :D It is a beauty and the nib is delightful on it. Enjoy!

Montblanc 149, bought on a traditional-style auction house.

Lovely! Is it an older 149? I want a 149 too, but I think I'm going to see if I can get my hands on an older one, rather than brand new. Of course, if I can snag a good deal for a new one, I wouldn't turn my nose up at it ;) :D Enjoy!

That pen is gorgeous--it looks like it just came out of the factory!

Jsolares - that's a great haul. Congrats. Did you get some off ebay recently? I was looking at some similar items.

Thanks, all were from ebay actually, almost won another couple of things like a meeting a5 folio in need of cleaning and conditioning but seemed ok, the sketch pen has the booklet with stamp so that was nice.

Not exactly getting a new MB, but...

About a year ago while leaving a pen posse, my favorite everyday writer (MB 234 1/2 with steel nib) came out of my pocket and fell to the parking lot concrete. It ended up with a cracked barrel that despite his best chemical and repairing magic, farmboy couldn't fix.

Over that year I've been seeking and gathering pieces and at the last pen posse farmboy was able to help by getting a pen that looks just like the cracked-barrel one and that works. I'm going to wait another week before putting it into my pocket "just in case" though. Woo hoo!

My newest pen is the Writers Edition William Faulkner. I bought it with a broad nib, but the seller was able to grind it to an OM.

The pen is a bit on the heavy side, but no too much. The nib is very smooth. I like it very much.

Well, it's not an MB, but I feel as though it is appropriate considering the holiday! It's the Krone Abraham Lincoln DNA Fountain Pen, with a broad nib and an epic ebonite barrel. Although the idea of the past president's DNA being crystallized into the cap top freaked me out at first, that uneasiness quickly grew to fascination. I view the returns on my investment as endless if I can only figure out how to clone ol' Abe :) Happy Independence Day folks!

That distinction has always struck me as odd, because

. sometimes even pens from the MB boutique are missing a sticker, and

. I have seen some most definitely well-used pens with the crusty sticker still on them!

I think it's personal preference. Some do some don't.

I have bought my first pen from the POA collection... Humboldt

I wasn't familiar with that pen. It is beautiful. The nib is incredible! Thanks for sharing this.

Received today from Damien in France, lovely pen, great condition but not sure of the age.

More importantly my first 149 and fourth MB, it has begun....

I believed the anti-MB hype for the longest time...until I acquired my first 149 with OBB nib. Now the Belzac is looking pretty nice...

Some of the hype is true, but they do make some very nice fountain pens.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
