Parker Super 21

Very nice collection. These pens are almost eternal-lasting. Good workhorses:thumbup:.

I must add thanks for the review: informative and reading it was enjoyable, really. I do remember my father using them for work. I have no idea what happened with them though.

Wonderful review.

I have had a couple of P21s for more than 25 years. One was a navy blue, and the second a fighter model. They both worked whenever I inked them in my rotation, and write a medium (blue) to wet (fighter) line medium. Both have caps that have a small dimpled tops. Over time the section in both became shrunk and they did not look aesthetically that attractive anymore. But then recently I found spares for them and have changed the Blue to a all Black and also changed the section (Black) on the fighter. I was I guess lucky to have found these NOS spares lying forgotten in the shelves of a stationary shop, and the only ones available, although there were several more bodies but no more hoods. The section on the fighter came of easy enough, but the blue section was so shrunk that I had to cut it off the feed. The pens are now as good as new and shiny, and I love them once more, and they are back in my rotation. I never had any trouble with the filling mechanism, which is working without a hitch.

The P51 that I can compare them with is a gray full sized pen with a gold cap, a wee bit longer than P21s and a little top heavier when posted. Otherwise the writing is as good and the octanium nibs of the P21s are as smooth as the 14K M gold one on the P51. The only problem I have is that the cap tends to loosen and slip off the Fighter when posted after a while and has to be pushed back in (I always write posted). I have the same problem with my P45 Fighters, but surprisingly not with the plastic models, which will remain posted as long as I write.

Enjoy your pens

Have a nice day

What an awesome review! Your review inspired me to do some research, and I ordered a Parker Super 21 (NOS). Can't wait to receive it!

These are very nice pens. But after well used, the screws tend to get loose. My mother has a couple of these, I think from the 60s or so.

I have seen NOS Super 21's being sold by a seller member called Athar201 (?) for around $30. Wonder if he still has some more.

I bought one from him. One from Ernesto Soler and then finally a flighter from Terim. These are great pens. I like the thickness of the pen. The only thing I dont like is the shortness of the thread section compared to the 51 and also the fact that you dont have an option to get a gold nib on the 21.

I got one of my 21 Super with a gold nib from a local seller. The nibs on the 21 Super and on 51s are interchangeble. So you have the option to install a 51 gold nib on your 21 Super.

I saw one today and thought it was a 51 with a 21 cap, except the filler was like a 21. Probably should have bought it. Ah well, another day.

Baptiste knew how to make a short job long

For love of it. And yet not waste time either.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
