2010 Tortoise Brown In November?

pay

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Does anyone know more about a new Tortoise - Brown 101N that seems to be coming,

at least to Japan, as a special edition in November 2010?

It has the reddish-brown endcaps reminiscent of the 1930s version, and I'm

guessing it is some kind of homage / replica of that pen. I am not a big

Pelikan collector, but I love the ones I have, including a vintage 101N.

The only electronic images I have been able to find are here.

Whatever it is, I'm against it!

it looks really beautiful; however, I do not know the answer to your question as to whether it is a 2010 model. i'm sure Rick Propas would know. you could shoot him an email.

Looks like an article about vintage Pelikans to me. Photos seem to be old Pels.

oops, I made a mistake on the image link in the post, but this is not related to the

actual ad I saw (print, in a magazine)

I will scan and post the ad tonight

I sent a cut and pasted copy of the page to my Japanese daughter-in-law and this is what she said!.......

I guess you can read Japanese. Yes, you're right. They will be for sale around November this year at the price of 48,000yen (without tax) it says. The same design as the model 101N made in 1930, the name this time will be M101N tortoise-shell brown.

In todays currency exchange that comes out at US564.60

All we have to do is find a Japanese retailer and put our orders in!

Now that's a Pelikan I could like. Heck of a time to be broke. :bawl:

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

I just gained sooooo much respect for Pelikan (and I already had respect for them!) This would be the perfect pair to my lapis originals.

I want one... bad.

I've darkened the Pel a little bit (and put the cap on), because it was very light in the scan.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
