Diamine Majestic blue on three fingers. My eye-dropper'd Franklin Christoph 65 is almost empty and burped up a nice blob of ink in the middle of Sunday service.

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.

Emerald of Chivoir. Sample that arrived today leaked in the sealed bag, so it got on my fingers. Haven't gotten it into a pen yet. :( (But hey, shimmery fingers!)

My fingers are the colour of Noodler's Baystate Blue today!

I just tried a sample, and I think it's a gorgeous colour - and thanks to its apparent resistance to water, I expect I'll be able to enjoy it for days to come :D

Chesterfield Erinite, a very nice green. I have an old bottle of Parker Penman Emerald and the Erinite is not too far off to that.

I've had Japanese Spider Crab* on my fingers today. It's a much, much better colour in the pen than the original swatch I made when it first arrived. An interesting warm mid-toned coral/brown mix, with good shading.

Nothing (so far). But yesterday I kept getting Noodler's Heart of Darkness on my hands. It's in one of the Noodler's Charlie pens, and while it doesn't *seem* to be burping ink (and I'm not seeing any ink on the end of the barrel when I post the cap) and I'm not seeing a crack anyplace when I wipe down the barrel, I keep ending up with black ink on my hands....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Pilot (Namiki) Blue and I don't know why. I filled my Pelikan M205 Taupe (with a wonderful fine Gold M400 nib) with it and I'm suffering severe nib creep which is filling the cap with ink and then my finger. Haven't had this problem with either the pen or the ink before although this is the first time I've combined them.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
