Noodler's #41 Brown - Top (dorsal side) of my right hand. I primed my nib and put a blob down on the right page of my Midori notebook because I was writing on the left hand page. When I turned my hand over at one point I had some blob transference.

I believe we've all suffered from "blob transference" at one time or another—I just didn't know what to call it—until now!

Noodler's Manhattan Blue for Fountain Pen Hospital—a reincarnation of the the old Manhattan Blue for Art Brown's. I was trying to fill a converter from a "full to the brim" new bottle of ink. Let's just say there was less ink in the converter than went on my hands.

Iroshizuku Ajisai. As I've just received, cleaned and filled my Visconti Opera ..... Also a few dips of ...... I don't know the color .... coming out of the Visconti M nib and feeder I was cleaning ...

Cleaned out the dregs of MB Albert Einstein and filled with Diamine Sunset to brighten a gloomy day a bit. My hands are sporting coordinating spots of both inks. I do love to accessorize. :)

Bilberry today filling my Graf and Pelikan Purple yesterday filling my 9 years old daughter's pen ....

Sailor Jentle Grenade. Might as well use it. It does oxidize in the converter, though, so it becomes a different color entirely.

I'm so glad it happened because I love the bottle.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Noodler's Kiowa Pecan and that weird bright pink BSiAR turns when the darker elements of the ink wash off your hands.

So many inks, so little time...

Mine are actually clear of ink today, but I have just got up and showered :)

 

My fingers will normally end up usually black on the weekend as I use the time to work on vintage pens that have been abused by their previous owners - how hard is it to wash them through when you are done?

Clean at the moment. But last night was a *very* different story....

I ran out of ink (or so I thought) in a Noodler's FPC. I had already diluted the ink, Diamine Anniversary Blue Velvet, by refilling the pen with distilled water, and further dilution did not yield an attractive enough color. So I started taking the pen apart to flush it fully. And ended up with Blue Velvet on my hands, legs, the bathroom vanity counter, the dishpan I soak pens in if I'm cleaning out the barrel, numerous tissues, paper towels, a mini bottle brush, and various q-tips -- even the floor....

Not entirely sure I got the floor wiped up well enough.... Oh, and there might be some on my sandal (which of course means it might be back on my foot.... I hadn't *really* planned to be up till 2:30 AM.... :gaah:

Someone wanna tell me how I ended up with Blue Velvet on the *inside* of the piston knob? :wallbash:

I hope someone will have an idea about cleaning that piston .... I have the same problem .....

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
