Triad, Nc- Pen Club, Anyone?

Hello to any fellow North Carolinians,

I am not sure if there are any existing pen clubs that meet in the Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Greensboro, or even Salisbury areas? I would love to get into a pen club locally. If you know of any, please fill me in! :) If not, is anyone interested in joining one if I can put it together?

Thanks! :) Can't wait to see wait happens!

I hope you can organize one; they're GREAT fun! My work schedule prevented me from regularly attending one in Durham, but it was wonderful when I went. The annual pen shows are nice, but sitting at a table of people with coffee and dessert, talking pens ... :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Yay! Let's see what other locations we have represented here and then we will work on finding a central location and get some ideas flowing. I'm REALLY excited!! :D Can't wait to see what happens!

I'm about as in between the Triangle and the Triad as you can be and still be anywhere. Greensboro is certainly an option and I can do Winston.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

I'm sort of all over the state now and in-between a move, but get the details together and I'll see if I can make it.

I just moved to the area from NYC and would love to join!

Okay, so here goes...for the first meeting anyway...future meetings could be different times, places, etc. We'll see what everyone is interested in doing and decide from there.

Who?

Open to any pen lovers interested in attending. No commitments for the future, just come and have fun!

What?

Triad Pen Meet (??, we'll have to think of a name at the meeting)

When?

Saturday, September 25th at 5:30pm

Where?

Panera Bread

4203 West Wendover Avenue

Greensboro, NC 27407

336-834-0085

You are welcome to order dinner and eat while we meet or just enjoy being surrounded by pens and the people who love them.

Why?

Well, because we love pens and inks...and we want to hang out with other pen and ink lovers. :) But really, who needs a reason?

I hope this works out for me. Is there any suggested theme or what have you for this first meeting? Favorite pen?

I thought about something along those lines. Maybe favorite two or three pens. :) Any thoughts?

I vote for top three pens. It can be very hard to narrow it down to just one, at least it is for me. I have 5 that I carry around every day. :cloud9:

Even narrowing it down to 5 would be a challenge for me. So, let's say bring some favorites, however many. :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
