I'm going to answer my own question since even Art Brown didn't know... :eureka:

 

The new batch Herbin 1670 [1670 v2.0] simply unscrews. They used only enough wax to cover the cap; the wax does NOT seal it to the glass! No chipping away or cutting needed. Just unscrew it and use! That being said, that opening sure is small.

Someone didn't see my video on the new wax caps when I received the first batch last month :rolleyes:

Are there any Diamine Monaco Red fans out there who can compare it to the 1670? I've already looked at the Swab Shop images, but would love to see a scan of the two writing samples right next to each other.

If you guys are really looking for glitterly gold stuff... you need to look at the writing in sunlight or take a photo. really. im about to do a review on it and ill try to get photos in condition where it shows in person

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
