Can You Remove The Feed From A Waterman C.f.

Thanks for the clarification on the markings. So you would say that mine is one of the rare semi flexible nib, based on this writing sample?

 

I do not have an other C/F as a reference, but while this is not the most flexible of my vintage 14K nibs it does have a lot more flex than my Lady Sheaffer 904 which is soft but has absolutely no flex. Considering how hard it has been to get the tines to loosen just a little for the pen to become acceptable to write with (barely), I'm quite impressed by the capacity of this small nib to flex and spring back into shape.

 

Here is a picture of my pen, which is in pretty good shape. There is a little bit of corrosion around the nib but very minimal compared to other pictures I've seen.

If it's not semi-flex it's at least softer than most C/Fs I've handled.

You want to use rubber grips - one hand on the protruding ring between the section and barrel, the other hand on the section. You may need to heat the section. But first try gently with rubber grips. All the best!

Dear siamackz, I’ve got some issues with the inner feed, I can’t separate the plastic stick from the metallic part. Is it easy to do it? I think that there it is my problem. Because the ink cannot pass through the small tube.

May be I’m wrong thinking that there is dry ink inside the . I’ve tried to puncture it with a safety pin but may be I’m harming the other extreme of the stick.

Hey, our pens are a little different it seems. The black stick in mine is actually part of the feed with a channel. Whereas, the plastic pipe in yours looks like a breather tube of some sort. Cant you simply pull it out? Is it stuck?

I'm afraid that I have to buy an old CF to fix mine using this piece. My CF has a big emotional value for me since it was a gift of my father

Ignacio, as someone recommended in your other thread an ultrasonic bath can probably perform miracles. I had a Lady Sheaffer that I hated for being very dry, and a bath just made it a superb writer in minutes. Decent ultrasonic baths can be had now in the $30-40 range, the one I got even has a de-gas feature and works wonders. Considering your C/F feed seems designed differently from other C/Fs it might be troublesome to find one that will match exactly.

Just because you CAN, does not mean you SHOULD !

 

Try an ultra-sonic cleaner. You can always re-sell it. A broken Waterman isn't worth much.
