My Twsbi Is Here!

I don't have time for pix right now, but hundreds of you will be holding your own pen soon. I'm in CA so presumably the shipping time was shorter from Taiwan. I love this pen! Even the brown cardboard box ("green") fits perfectly with foam surrounding the plastic storage box. Box's design matches the pen in materials, colors, and feel. Pen is too long for me to post, which I don't usually do anyway. Light in weight, just what you'd expect from a pen made of these materials. The plated furniture (chrome?) is gorgeous! Nib, etc. have a wonderful shine that makes the pen look more expensive than it is. Barrel has subtle diamond-shaped facets which reflect light in a lovely way and, again, set this pen apart in design. YMMV but when I filled mine with Noodler's Army Green it filled the barrel about halfway. I ordered an extra-fine nib and the pen writes more of an American fine-mediumish line...but I like Japanese pens for that insanely fine line they produce, so don't go by me. Great flow -- not too wet, not too dry. Starts up right away. Cap screws on, another great touch for an inexpensive pen.

I love this pen and will be ordering more as available. Curious to read others' opinions as your pens arrive!

When you first filling the ink, the ink will only fill up half the way of the space, that is becouse there were air inside.

what I did is that I tip up the pen near the opening of the ink bottle turn the barrel end cap slowly (the piston will move up) then push out the air, then tip down and suck in more ink again.

I think, in anticipation of the many coming arrivals, that we should make this thread the official MY TWSBI IS HERE! thread, so as not to clog the rest of the forum.

Can you still order these? I notice the ebay store doesn't seem to have any.

It sounds like it's going to be the middle to latter part of July before the eBay store is up and running. Unless my name is high enough on the wait list, it sounds like I will be waiting to buy on eBay myself.

I have been trying to ship these out as fast as I can, and my girlfriend is about to come over so we can take the last batch out.

Tonight all the shipping notices from the last 2 days will go out.

So if you don't get an email tonight (tomorrow morning for people back in the States), let me know (email me @ markperdomo@gmail.com). I wasn't able to match ALL paypal payments to orders, but there are only maybe 3-4 orders where this is the case

I received my notification yesterday, and would also have received the pen yesterday, but I had had it sent to my work address, and I wasn't at work yesterday. headsmack.gif

So, today, at work, I wandered across the road to the Post Office with my little red "You weren't in" card and picked it up.

It looks absolutely scrumptious. Love the packaging. It took me a moment to find out that I couldn't open the plastic box because the transparent tape on the clear plastic holding it together isn't visible...

The only ink I have here is some Thistle Chemical Co powdered ink that is the right strength for my dip pen, but is too weak for FPs...

I will have to wait till tonight to fill it.

Now, the question is - which ink? Iroshizuku asa-gao, Parker Penman Sapphire, or my blend Majestic Havasu? (I should have ordered thee pens, one for each.)

We're having a pen meet locally in Singapore as someone brought in 10 of them and we will be meeting to distribute those orders out. Sadly, we will only be meeting on Friday.....

Received a very nice reply to my inquiry AND my "shipped" email notification this morning! This is certainly a class act in my book! Thanks so much Mahkie, your efforts are really appreciated!

I saw on Twitter that ALL of the Preorders have shipped now... that's great news for everyone! Mahkie, I hope you are able to get some rest now...

I think mine came today. I got an email from the mailroom (at work) that a package arrived. Sadly, I'm not in the office today and will have to wait until tomorrow.

No, I am doing my audit and apparently still have quite a few Paypal payments that I haven't been able to match with orders crybaby.gif

I'm trying to get these all sorted out, but this means there's maybe 5-15 orders that have been paid for but not shipped, because I don't know what to mail them

I know I've said it in a couple of emails but another huge THANK YOU to mahkie and speedy for all your efforts!

I was one of those who threw another wrench into the works by wanting one of the pencils as well, but once again, speedy has stepped things up another notch by custom building these. Thanks again to both of you! :notworthy1:

I'm jealous. Found out that mine is one of the last pens to ship out. Not mahkie's fault, I gave him some info that wasn't straightforward. mahkie replied quickly and says he'll get the pen on its way.

But I'm lusting even more after these initial reports. Should have mine soon.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
