What Ink Are You Going To Use In Your New Twsbi Demonstrator First?

I'm apparently on the waiting list. If/when I get one (some of the literature makes me think the demonstrators were just for preorder?), I like the idea of an opaque looking Noodler's ink. I think it will most likely be Upper Ganges Blue.

I'm going to agree with the OP and use my favorite green ink, J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage.

Best,

Mike Truppi

How does one get their hands on such a pen?

Nobody has them yet. 300 were pre-sold and should soon be shipped. The rest of us are waiting for the next production cycle.

I believe what I have heard is that there will likely be an eBay store set up for subsequent sales.

I kinda want to put Noodler's North African Violet in it, but I'm pretty sure it will stain the (Potty Mouth) out of that pen.

I'm also considering:

Noodler's #41 Brown

Mont Blanc Violet

Herbin Poussiere de Lune

Iroshizuku Ku Jaku

Iroshizuku Kon-Peki

PR Naples Blue

PR Burgundy Mist

I feel like somewhere in a TWSBI thread there was a mention of the designers testing for staining with "stronger" inks. I THINK that BSB was mentioned as being safe. Am I making this up or does anyone else remember reading this? I'm still a little not very good at using the search function here...

I only bring this up because that North African Violet, or any of the V-mail inks, would probably look really pretty in this pen.

The first pen I had, that FPN member spitzner has now (I mailed it to her to take to the Chicago pen show), was tested with BSB with no problems

I really want to try V-Mail inks because people said they were similar to iroshizuku in terms of flow/shading. Probably when I get back to the states ill do that

Well, if it can survive BSB it should be able to survive NAV! That's the one! I LOVE North African Violet!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
