Dear Gerry,

You've got the type down, what are the two pens - think 1995-2003...

The Classic Pens model is a variant of the first one. You are sooooo close...

The filler is more correctly called a removable Touchdown, I guess.

Dear Gerry,

CORRECT! Name the two pens and you win the round!

How about Legacy and Targa?

Dear Gerry,

The Targa did not use the Touchdown.

You are correct on the Legacy. What *other* recent pen used the Touchdown converter...

Sheaffer Legacy Touchdown Converter

Used only on the Legacy and Legacy 2 pens. It requires the sealed barrel and a Touchdown plunger in order to work. It is unique as far as converters are concerned.

ROUND FIVE

This was Sheaffer's first converter.

It was introduced in response to a cartridge / converter pen made by another major brand.

It had to be made in a special way in order to fit into Sheaffer pens at the time.

It was also known for its unreliability and was replaced just a few years later.

You occasionally find them packaged with 1964 and later model pens like this one.

Sheaffer Lifetime 1500

They are very uncommon probably due to their quirky problems.

It does not have a name, but it's the only one that works this way. How does it work, and you have named it!

GO!
