Reporting a post, troll or spam

Dear Good People of FPN,

Recently trolls and spammers seem to have found their way to this great little site of ours. In order to catch them quick and early on, we would like you all to help us. After all, we have many more members than moderators and admins, and if we all work together, we will be able to keep this a place with a nice and pleasant atmosphere.

How can I help, you may ask. Well, we would like to propose the following actions, or lack of actions if so required :D:

1. Don't post a reply to a troll or a spammer, even though your first reaction is to do so. These people thrive on any reaction they get.

2. Please notify the admins or moderators of such a post, so we can delete and/or remove the offending posts. You can either PM any of us, the moderators or the FPN Admin Team, email fpnadmin@gmail.com or fpnmods@gmail.com, or post a message in Community Feedback. We will remove the latter when a troll or spam post has been dealt with.

3. Did we mention not to post a reply in a troll or spam thread? :D

Thank you all for your help in keeping this the friendliest board on the Internet!

Kind regards,

The FPN Moderator and Admin Team

Pardon my ignorance, but ............

what is a "troll?"

A person who posts on forums, newsgroups, etc. and "trolls" for reaction by posting argumentative, crude, or otherwise inciteful speech. Their sole purpose in life seems to be to stir up controversy then sit back and enjoy the show. They have no life and probably no love and get a kick out of hurting people and testing the boundaries of human kindness and patience. Often they have no ties with the community at all (as in, not FP people) but sometimes they are members of the community who will behave for a while then suddenly go on a destructive kick - often posting under false addresses so their real identity isn't immediately available.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
