My first modern Conway Stewart was the 58. I now also own two Dandy's a Duro and a Churchill. My favourite is the Churchill :cloud9:

I only have one CS, so my choice is made easy.

the Silver Duro, Flame Red:

Weighs "a ton" and writes beautifully, with a perfectly balanced feel in the hand. Most definitely my most-favorite FP.

Cheers,

My favorite modern CS is also my favorite modern pen - the Churchill.

As long as they don't get the idea to put a brass sleeve in it, this year or next will probably see another new one added to the stable.

+1. What nib did you use to write that envelope? I think I can see some line variation - was it a stub?

I have to go with the Nelson. The balance and feel of the Nelson fits my hand just perfectly. I use mine on a daily basis. Its too bad that the Nelsons were discontinued. I would have bought a couple more if I knew.

I just bought a CS Cornet from Bryant in Tucson, what a super nice guy to deal with, and while it might be a little early to say if it is my favorite CS pen, it is certainly the newest addition to my small CS collection. I do love my CS Churchill in burgandy blush, so time will tell if I prefer the Cornet over the Churchill in time.

I still feel the Steinway is a very classy looking Churchill!

I also love the image of the two Churchill pens from the Ottawa Pen Club.

I do agree, Mary.

That is a very classy beauty.

Is it apart form the trim exactly the same as the Churchill (measurements, weight, etc?)

Actually, this one should have a music nib...

I am primarily a vintage collector, with a reasonable focus on Conway Stewarts, but have a small number of contemporary CSs as well. The Duro Heritage absolutely called to me, and has been a favorite since it arrived. Nice size, good balance, light weight. Love it. On the flip side, I've a Chatsworth Simpole that is a great signature pen. Quite large (long), still not heavy, and with good balance for such a handfull of pen. Oh, by the way - they both write GREAT (they've both benefited from Mr. Binder's customization).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
