So Hari,

Where did you get this pen, and how much did it cost? :puddle: It is not very nice to provoke fellow pen lovers to covet, salivate over, and plot to obtain an example, without even a hint of where you got it.

Beautiful pen, isn't it? well, I bought it from a dealer here in Mumbai and had to buy a minimum order quantity, they simply refused to sell me just one. It cost me the equal of USD145. BTW there is just one used example listed on ebay right now by a German seller.

The best part of this pen is its longer flared section and the superb Ebonite feeder.

Best,

Hari

The link goes to XE.com currency conversion. I do not think they sell pens. . . .

Oops. My Bad. the site lists the prices in Euros and I was using the currency converter to read the prices in $. Just google Senator President fountain pens and you will have no trouble finding many sites that carry the pen.

I actually did that prior to asking Hari where to get one. I got lots of sites with no price listed, or any way I could figure how to order. Perhaps my google doesn't work as well as yours.

Donnie, probably dflorida is referring to this page: link yes the prices are attractive, but the MOQ is too high, I had to satisfy a MOQ of three nos so maybe thats why I got it at the price stated, well it was a local dealer, no shipping delays and I always support the local chaps.

Senator makes very good pens (I´ve got a cheaper model, a Windsor, with italic nib), but they do need help with their English translations - a "pretentious" writing instrument?? :P

:roflmho:

Oh, man...I'd love one of those!

Yeah, Senator should make these pens more widely available, I lost a few ebay auctions before I sought out the local dealer for these.

Hari,

Thank you. Sadly, the only "local" dealer here is Paradise Pens. Houston is the nearest "real" pen shop, and that is a five and a half hour drive (Texas is large).

IPG nib :bawl: Other than that, :puddle:

The sword is mightier than the pen. However, swords are now obsolete whereas pens are not.

The steel nib might be a turn off, but the nib itself is quite nice. It is not a nail, it has a very slight amount of "give" which makes the nib quite nice. I myself prefer the softness that a gold nib typically provides. BTW three 14CT nibbed Presidents have been listed on ebay yesterday at asking costs higher than a 149  Link NAYY, just for information. The 14K nib is beautiful.

If I read that link correctly, they will sell a minimum of 13 pens for a cost of about £42.00 each. I wonder if an enterprising person/dealer could bring togeather 13 FPN members to agree to buy the pens in advance?

It will be worthwhile to explore the MOQ and costing for their 14k/18K nibbed variants. With free personalisation, this could be even the FPN LE pen, of course, with the permission of the owners of FPN.

Hari

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
