TWSBI in Chicago

Recommended Posts

Thanks to the generosity of Speedy and Mahkie, I have a TWSBI Diamond to bring to the Chicago Pen Show on Sunday! :cloud9:

Look for me! I'm a short older woman, and I'll be wearing a badge with the FPN banner, the TWSBI logo, and "Have you seen my TWSBI?" (a picture of which I've tried to attach, but who knows if it worked?)

I was there yesterday whew what fun \0/

I am undecided on going today but you never know when one desires some more fountain pens. Good luck at the show and you may see more people as they have lowered the entrance fee to $5.00

I'll definitely be on the lookout since I have two on the wait list. I can't wait to check it out.

If you get a chance to try it out, the pen she has is a "F" nib for reference.

My husband and I are going to the Fountian Pen Show in Washington in August. It would be so very very cool for us to go wearing a badge with the FPN banner!! Where are they? How do i get one? do you make your own?

Pam, I totally missed you at the show today. :crybaby: I wanted to check out that pen so bad!

Did you get to show it off to very many people today? What did they think?

Ditto . . . any report on responses to the pen?

I got some orders emailed to me, but what I really wanted to see is pictures from the show! roflmho.gif

I showed the TWSBI to several people at the show -- including Brian Gray of Edison Pens, Gary Olsen and the show's organizers, as well as several others. All response was very positive, and the shocked look when I announced the price point was, well, priceless!

I took it over to Ed Hamilton at Century Pens the other day and he was very impressed, too -- as was a customer there at the time, who told Ed to let him know when he got TWSBIs in stock so he could buy one!

I will try to post a review later (I've never done one before, but this is special). Trust me, it will be positive!

If anyone in Chicago would like to try the pen, I work in the Loop and would be happy to meet for coffee and/or lunch. Who knows? This could lead (finally) to a CHICAGO Pen Club!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
