A big thank you to Denis for thinking of this wonderful way to send me a free pen :D

Again, I thank my worthy competitors and those who took themselves out of the running.

I love this pen. I don't even have to lie about loving it. In case any of you have forgotten, it's the Monteverde Regatta in Black.

I filled it with Waterman BB and it is a smooth writer.

Thanks to all.

I love this community. (not just for the free pen, although that helps :P )

Now Kevin, how about a little contest for that Makie Lady.

It could be for the person who most resembles a woman with grey hair and is holding a Kara-Nuri Urushi

it's the Monteverde Regatta in Black.

I knew nothing of this pen, so naturally I looked it up. It turns out it is the same pen that caught my attention in some add (at L.A. show?) and the price is not a wallet buster. It looks very nice, so congrats! It seems like it only comes in medium. So you say it is a smooth writer. How does it feel in your hand? How does it compare in size with other pens? Is this more of a compact pen?

Here is a nice image of the pen from swisherpens.com:

The azure blue looks very nice too. Again, from Swisher:

Note to admin: since there is a picture forum, is it inapropriate to post any pictures here? If so, let me know, and I will change the image link to a simple url link.

Congratulations, Karin! Your pen is a real "looker"! :)

Just out of curiosity....

(a.) Do you post it when you use it, or do you write with it unposted?

(b.) Is it a lightweight, medium or heavy pen?

Congrats Karin! I had my eye on the Regatta, but I liked the blue/yellow. I thought they had one in red as well. I'm wondering too if it's a heavy pen. I think you need to do a review. :)

Never lie to your dog.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
