The pencil:

Length: 4.8 Inches (12.3 cm)

Girth: .5 Inches (1.5 cm)

The pencil holds 5.5 mm lead. It comes with a lead sharpener as seen in the picture. It is a very heavy pencil, it weights about the same as my Morgan ( including the cap). Due to the girth it is very comfortable to use if you are use to using a large pen. The pencil comes with a small leather pouch and 1 additional 4B refill (It has the HB lead in the pencil).

Mechanical.

Unlike other MB mechanical pencils, which usually uses twist action, this is a push button propelling pencil.

Conclusion:

MSRP: $445

I really love the design of the pencil it has a good weight into it and have a nice girth. In addition, because of the 5.5 mm lead I can alter my line width by changing my contact angle or rotating the pencil itself. It is worth it? I am planning to keep this pencil for a while so it does not bother me on the price that I paid.

Nice to see a brief review of this pencil as I have always wondered what others think of it. I find it to be a thick and heavy torpedo that lends itself more to sketching and drawing, and less for actual writing...well, it is called a sketch pencil. The thing about the weight is that it will always remind you that whatever it is that you are sketching will be ruled by the laws of intertia and momentum. So, on one hand while the design and shape are fantastic, the weight of this "intellectual" weapon will take some time to get used to...or not. It all depends on how you feel about using it.

p.s. - I purchased it for well under $300 about 3 years ago and am surprised to see how much it is now.

MB price has been out of control for the past three years. When I got my 145 it was 350 ish but now it is $505 !!

This mechanism uses the best-looking pencil pressure on the button for 5.5 mm lead hello polymer. Provision barrel jet black precious resin inlaid with Montblanc white star, with a tone of gold. Pencil and three gold rings, a hat and has the Mont Blanc white star. Lip pencil is printed with the c MEISTERSTUCK, and Mont Blanc pixels.I like it.

So if I told my wife no more pens -----this is a pencil -right? --so I would stay true to the deal I made with her!

I wonder if she will go for this logic.

I have been eying this for a long time to do my sketches with--gotta save up i guess.

Pretty, and I am sure it's nice in the hand, but I can get a Caran d'Ache leadholder that's just fine for about $25. I would have a hard time justifying this as a purchase, alas.

Very nice acquisition!

I've always wanted one of these and the highlighter. Can't really justify them though as I'd never use them.

Same here for the highlighter. Maybe one day I would get one from the used market.

This is a review I've looked forward to finding.

The photos and comments are very helpful.

I'm glad that it's a useful sketch tool.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
