I downloaded the catalogue ... a stroll down memory lane.

 

The black and burgundy 144 is a really cool colour combination.

I tried to achieve a similar colour combination with my 146s: put a black cap on a burgundy pen. The threads did not fit.

 

Maybe I will start looking for a used black-bordeaux 144 instead.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Cool - thanks for posting this (it's awesome looking back). It's amazing how much things have stayed pretty much the same. How cool is that 23.5kt plate leGrand?

 

And I agree with Matt - bring back the burgundy!!!

Enjoying my fountain pen and all the cool inks that come with it!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
