Any other fountain pens with screw in converters?

I am surprised screw-ins are not more common.

I agree, although I just recently encountered one reason you might *not* want a screw-in converter:

My Mom's MB-145 developed a leak on the converter seal, but it remained undetected because the ink could not get past the screw threads. The ink corroded the brass, seizing the converter in place. Eventually it dried out and blocked the feed. With a normal converter the leak would have been obvious right away, and no damage caused beyond a little inky mess.

I never would have thought of that. I learned something today! I am guessing silicone grease would make the converter usable, once the problem was identified, but maybe it would be best to reapply grease every time the converter is removed? I like to take the converter out for cleaning.

I just remembered I had this sort of leak on a Pilot VP Decimo (non-threaded, of course), and I found out right away when the ink started pouring out the front of the pen into my pocket 0_0

That was a mess, and during an exam, no less.

Sure, but it's no different than putting silicone grease on the threads of an eyedropper-filler. Do it carefully, and it should be fine. Since fountain pen inks are water-based, you really shouldn't have a problem.

The threads of an standard international thread-in convertor are no where near where the feed goes into the convertor. Additionally the threads on a Leonardo serve as a back up to the friction fit. The convertor still friction fits in. The threads would only come into play if for some reason the seal broke.

Is this different in other pens? Like a mb?

My Delta Journal Grande has a delightful quality screw cartridge converter.

But, my favorite daily use fountain pen, the Cross Townsend, has gone for decades without a leak with a push on. So, i can't complain.

Seeking input on a suitable backup screw in for a Delta

Thanks

As mentioned before, Caran d'Ache uses screw type in some pens - I think Leman has it, my RNX has it. But Ecridors have push/pull types included (at least in my case(s) it was like that).

... I believe in purple ink

Seeking input on a suitable backup screw in for a Delta

The threaded converters in my Delta Sea Wood and Leonardo Momento Zero pens are interchangeable.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Thanks! Unfortunately, equally rare and hard to find. I've ordered a Visconti. We'll see.

yes, Leonardo is a "spin off" of Delta (i.e. some of the people working for Delta moved to Leonardo)

They probably have access to Delta's suppliers of "raw materials" and probably also have transferred to Leonardo a lot of the technical knowledge that was previously in Delta.

Have you noticed how the Momento Zero looks very similar also from a technical point of view to the Delta the Journal?

They also have access to many of the resins previously used by Delta.

No, but that's probably because I haven't even see the Delta 'The Journal'. I've only really 'heard of' Delta after the company has gone out of business, and so I wasn't particularly interested in finding out more about its pen models since I have no interest in buying secondhand (including 'vintage') pens. I only picked up our two Delta Sea Wood pens because they seem so awfully well-priced when a Japan-based(!) seller was offering his last NOS units as clearance stock, while I was shopping for Sailor and Platinum pens.

Also the Cleo Skribent uses threaded converters – optionally. Unthreaded, international standard ‘Pelikan- / Schmidt-type’ converters can be used (just as you can use standard international cartridges), but Cleo offers threaded converters too.

In current use: Cleo Skribent Classic, Waterman Expert, Diplomat Excellence, Pineider Avatar, Sheaffer Targa (the good old Sheaffer, not one Made in China)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
