Schmidt nibs just aren't anywhere near as good as Bock's and I've been generally disappointed with them.

I know Edison Pen had smaller orders for gold nibs, but i don't recall if he said how many would be neded for titanium. They are my favorite nibs.

I will not buy any more Schmidt-nibbed pens or steel-nibbed pens (unless the latter are vintage).

Just to clarify, Schmidt does not manufacture nibs. They buy from Bock or JoWo and then assemble.

I haven't done any homework on titanium nibs, price or availability, but after trying yours in NYC, I probably should! Wonderful!

Then I've undoubtedly tried the JoWos as the nibs were not the build quality of Bock's.

I've seriously considered just buying 100 or so Ti nibs and re-fitting most of my pens....

When will your piston filler be released?

I think in two month more. The pen is about ready for mass production, but still waiting for packaging box, version 2, then production, shipping to USA for ebay...

This is correct about Schmidt nib/filler set. Schmidt has the capability to manufacture the nib but due to the volume required nowaday is low so they did not intend to do so. Nevertheless he has the capability to tooling and making the filler, which Bock and Jowo cannot do. So when I first decide to make fountain pen, I choose Schmidt nib/filler set for his reliability. As I know twsbi nib is from Bock.

Hello Speedy, I am living in Taiwan and am wondering when you might release these and what the price might be in NTD

This pen looks promising, and I would love to have a Taiwanese pen to buy! I will probably buy a couple if the price is right!

Thanks for your support. I am think to target the retail price at around NTD1,500, that's about US$50.

Cool, I think I will definitely be purchasing a few of these for myself and friends once released. Do you have any distribution in Taiwan set up for brick and mortar stores? I can't use Yahoo/Ruten/PCHome because I can't read chinese

If not, i'll have to suck up to my friends and get them to snag me one :-)

Ok, I really like the idea of the Vacuum Filling; I looks like you are really trying to make an effort to supply pens with filling systems other than cartridge/converter systems at a reasonable price, I appreciate that.

But on the vacuum filler, PP007, I'm not really getting into the tapered body and the faceted filler cap. Every time I look at it I think it looks a good bit like the back half of a fish with the facets on the filler becoming a tail. I understand that the facets are probably something you see as a distinctive TWSBI motif, but I'm really not enjoying it, and esp on the PP007, would like to see a bit differently designed filler cap. Of course I understand other people may really like it, and that's OK. I'm sure I'll buy one or two or three of both pens anyway, and the look may grow on me. I do applaud you for a distinctive design, inside and out, and am glad you're not making a common 'bullet/cigar' shape that is available from several manufactures; Mont Blanc, Namiki-Pilot, Sailor, and others.

Very good comment. This shape is not final yet, from different comments and mock up later on we may need to re-shape it a little bit. We are also struggling between tranditional design or something new. New is good but also a big risk, so to get comments from future user is a good idea for all of us. I hope we can gradually shape out something that is distintive as Twsbi style.

But most important for us now is create pens that are good quality, and inexpensive, and fun.

Thanks, I really wanted to be constructive about this. I, like a lot of people here, are excited about both pens. The PP003 (Diamond) I'll probably like more in person, but I find the grey/smoke demonstrator and some of the drawings of opaque PP003's with ink windows very attractive; I understand those will come later. And I understand you are trying to appeal to Eastern and Western consumers, that may well make things even harder. Good luck, and I hope to get my hands on one of the PP007s really soon.

I hope the filler can be easily restored in the future

I will discuss with RD to know how easy will that be.

We made some design change on the barrel screw section, trying to reduce the dramatic diameter change.

Something I just thought about. One of my modern Conklins, an All-American, has a clear feed. I know it's too late to even think of such a thing on this version of the Diamond 530 (PP003), but it might be something to think about for this pen or for later, possibly higher end, versions of the PP003.

The clear feed section is a bit of a novelty, but it is also useful to get some idea if you've done a good job flushing the pen.

Again, just an idea, but with a clear demonstrator, it might be nice, esp if you could make the whole nib assembly clear.

Very interesting idea, thanks. At the moment we do not make the feed by ourselves. In the future when the business is big enough for us to develop nib/feed system, then we maybe able to try out your good idea.

Couldn't afford one this minute anyway, but any chance of this being made with black (ie. black chromed) hardware?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
