Ok, I have updated my entry with a bit more info to give you more of an idea of the culture and history of Seannya's people without (hopefuly) giving too much away.

 

PERSONA LIST

 

Kathelyne: Seannya los di’Nona

World: Seannya belongs to a people who are technologically advanced, they have space travel, everything is electronic (ie until now paper was an antique that no one used, even artwork is on electric screens) but people still have a strong connection to nature through their link to their home world. Seannya’s culture also has some lovely old fashioned traditions such as days in, calling cards etc that I really love. A bit of a blend of futuristic sci-fi and old fashioned Mr Darcy charm or something I guess, and all out of my own head with a dash of borrowed stuff here and there.

 

A bit about Seannya, she belongs to a race called the Crennan who are a people spread across several planets. There is an ancient war between the Crennan and the Talderians, another race in the vicinity of Prenya (the name of the planet where Seannya lives). Seannya’s history books tell of how her people started war and the inhabitants of Prenya opposed it. The Talderians, who are actually a peace loving people, put Prenya under their protection several generations ago while still trying to fight off terrorist attacks against themselves from Crennan (not the ones who live on Prenya).

At the time the portal-mail service is opened, he's in the late stages of training and goes on occasional missions (evaluated as "low risk").

In this way he has become an amateur scholar and is, at heart, a collector. llow me to introduce Grace Tyler Austin. She is a highly successful science fiction novelist who lives on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She loves the isolation of her coastal home as she is extremely shy and reclusive. Hand-written letters are her way of communicating with the outside world. Grace loves to write letters, and is very good at it...so much so that she was selected as one of the first to be able to utilize the portal mailbox system on Earth. She was a part of the effort that eventually changed Earth's system from one reserved only for the privileged few to one that offered free access to all, with strictly enforced privacy laws. Also, due to her influence (and offer to pay for it), a local portal was installed near her island home. This portal connects to Earth's main portal system.

 

She is currently working on her next novel, and between long writing sessions, she writes letters. Grace answers all letters received. She even responds to her fans so long as they handwrite their letters on paper and send them through the mail - either traditional ground mail or portal mail.

 

Letterwriting is not her only "old fashioned" trait. Along with always writing her first drafts by hand, Grace drinks Earl Grey tea, cooks her meals from scratch, never makes phone calls before 10:00 AM or after 5:00 PM, always sends thank you notes, and pays her bills with a check and mails them. Her lifestyle is very far from the high-tech science fiction worlds she creates in her novels. They are thoroughly researched and highly detailed. Her many fans line up for days to get her books. Rather than the current trend of releasing the electronic version of books forst , then printing in paper, her contract stipulates that her books are published on paper, then later made available in electronic version.

A world, much like our own today, except dominated by an evil dictator, but only a handful of people know the dictator is in power (a quite coup) Phineas is one of the people trying to spearhead the resistance. The world is more of a fantasy-type world.

Phineas helps to transport items, as well as take information to and from the different hiding places of the resistance. He is often chased by the government, and needs to keep moving around in order to not be caught.

A man suffering from amnesia in the Pacific Northwest of North America. The universe is definitely Science Fictional with a bit of time travel thrown in. HIs only clues are a list of names who might be able to provide him with information and a contact location in Portland, Oregon.

 

A parallel Universe in which exploration and colonization fo the solar system is advancing quickly. Colonies exist on Mars and the Moon, with outposts on Europa and Titan. Orbital stations at Venus (station orbit maintained by thrusters over the dark side of the planet) and Neptune. Atmospheric mining of Jupiter has begun. Pirates of sorts range through the asteroids preying on supply transports.

 

Earth itself is a bit more futuristic than it is in our modest modern world.

Oops! I forgot I hadn't replied to this!

 

Basically its a way of divisioning the portals into groups that doesn't rely on geography of places unknown (and through time and alternate realities. For instance if there is a portal on earth in 1870 and one on earth in an alternate reality in 2288 then just saying 'earth' won't work because even if it got to the planet (how when people haven't heard of earth?) when will it get to?

 

 

So sectors are the largest division, then these sectors are broken into areas. Within those areas the plannets are numbered and then the portals on those planets are numbered.

 

If it helps two people on earth are choosing sector 1, area 1 planet 3 for earth and we have portals 5 and 13, so for your adderss it could be:

sector 1, area 1, planet three, portal ___ where ___ is NOT 5 or 13, so pick a number. It could be 3 or 11 or whatever you like.

 

BUT we also have an address of 7.8.3.4 for earth.

 

How is this? Well, the portals are scattered through time and space and numbered as they are seen by the central portal. In an alternate universe earth may sit in the sector 7 of the portals. Could it be the two portals both in 1.1.3, despite the apparent different universes they are from actually be representitive of portals in the same universe in different times? Or could it just be that these two parralel universes are close at these points in time and space?

 

 

One thing for sure, two portals on the same planet in the same time, place and universe WILL share the same first three numbers.

 

 

So... pick four numbers, just make sure they are not the EXACT same four as someone else has picked!

 

Then you many need more address than this, for instance if there is only one portal on a planet, just a name and the four numbers won't get it to a person (or maybe it will on your planet). If there are two portals in a village, you wont need to put the continent, country, city, village etc so maybe just a name is enough. For Seannya her portal serves a few villages/towns etc so her village is needed.

Is very uncommon to see him outside of his house, he only go to the local market to buy food and tools for his work, his best and only real friend is Marcos Sangallo his mentor and the only men in all Florence who sell the stuff he needs for work, and the best in his area.

 

Luciano is young 19 years, and he es very naive about love and he is trying to make a paint of what the love means. His girlfriend and possibility his future wife is the daughter of the most famous merchant of perfumes in all the area, and Luciano comes from a good positioned family.

She is currently working on her next novel, and between long writing sessions, she writes letters. Grace answers all letters received. She even responds to her fans so long as they handwrite their letters on paper and send them through the mail - either traditional ground mail or portal mail.

 

Letterwriting is not her only "old fashioned" trait. Along with always writing her first drafts by hand, Grace drinks Earl Grey tea, cooks her meals from scratch, never makes phone calls before 10:00 AM or after 5:00 PM, always sends thank you notes, and pays her bills with a check and mails them. Her lifestyle is very far from the high-tech science fiction worlds she creates in her novels. They are thoroughly researched and highly detailed. Her many fans line up for days to get her books. Rather than the current trend of releasing the electronic version of books forst , then printing in paper, her contract stipulates that her books are published on paper, then later made available in electronic version.

A world, much like our own today, except dominated by an evil dictator, but only a handful of people know the dictator is in power (a quite coup) Phineas is one of the people trying to spearhead the resistance. The world is more of a fantasy-type world.

Phineas helps to transport items, as well as take information to and from the different hiding places of the resistance. He is often chased by the government, and needs to keep moving around in order to not be caught.

A man suffering from amnesia in the Pacific Northwest of North America. The universe is definitely Science Fictional with a bit of time travel thrown in. HIs only clues are a list of names who might be able to provide him with information and a contact location in Portland, Oregon.

 

A parallel Universe in which exploration and colonization fo the solar system is advancing quickly. Colonies exist on Mars and the Moon, with outposts on Europa and Titan. Orbital stations at Venus (station orbit maintained by thrusters over the dark side of the planet) and Neptune. Atmospheric mining of Jupiter has begun. Pirates of sorts range through the asteroids preying on supply transports.

 

Earth itself is a bit more futuristic than it is in our modest modern world.

An very extravagant and famous painter in XV century, introverted and simple person, most of the time is in his workshop doing a lot of paintings and some scripts for plays who usually makes fun of other more famous artists.

 

Is very uncommon to see him outside of his house, he only go to the local market to buy food and tools for his work, his best and only real friend is Marcos Sangallo his mentor and the only men in all Florence who sell the stuff he needs for work, and the best in his area.

 

Luciano is young 19 years, and he es very naive about love and he is trying to make a paint of what the love means. His girlfriend and possibility his future wife is the daughter of the most famous merchant of perfumes in all the area, and Luciano comes from a good positioned family.
