New Dollar Pens from smeden

It is time again for a sale of Dollar pens. This time I am also offering some new models but all are made by the Dollar factory in Karachi, Pakistan.

The price for all pens is 5 € (7.25 $) a piece. I have to charge extra for postage and packing but I only charge the actual costs, no more.

Shipping to Europe

1 to 3 pens 1.50 €

4 to 8 pens 1.95 €

9 to > 2.95 €

Worldwide shipping (except Europe)

1 to 3 pens 1.95 € or 2.80 $

4 to 8 pens 3.60 € or 5.20 $

9 to > 5.80 € or 8.40 $

All pens 1 pcs 5.00 € or 7.25 $

The pens are:

Dollar 717i Transparent Grey, blue and burgundy

This is the popular Dollar Demonstrator pen that many of you already own. Fine-medium.

Dollar 717i Grey, blue and burgundy

Exactly the same pen as the Demonstrator but with coloured body and cap. No transparency but, like its famous brother pen the demonstrator, very nice. Fine-medium.

Dollar 717 Calligraphy Grey, blue and burgundy

This is a pen that some of you have asked for. Similar to 717i but with a calligraphy nib. The factory says the nib is suitable for writing Arabic, Persian and Urdu scripts. Fine.

Dollar SP-10 Many colors

This is the largest Dollar pen. Push type piston filler. Fine-medium.

Dollar Student Pen Many colors

A small pen but a great performer and holds a lot of ink. This is the only

Dollar pen with a medium nib.

Ordering

PM me and I will send you a PayPal money request. Please also tell me your colour selections. I also want to know if you live in USA in order to send the money request in US dollars. From all other countries I prefer payment in euros.

You can also email me with your order. I am smeden717 at hotmail.com.

I believe I have a reasonable chance to meet your color preferences for the 717 and 717i pens. I will do my best for SP-10 and Student Pen but please give me several options for these.

All Dolllars are piston fillers.

Here is a handy table to calculate total costs in in US dollars when pens are ordered to United States.

1 pen = 10.05 $

2 pens = 17.30 $

3 pens = 24.55 $

4 pens = 34.20 $

5 pens = 41.45 $

6 pens = 48.70 $

7 pens = 55.95 $

8 pens = 63.20 $

I have three Dollar Demonstrators that I bought from another member here some time ago and they write beautifully. There's no flex to the nibs, but they are quite smooth. It has also been my experience that they write first time, every time, even when they've been left sitting for a couple of weeks.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

Buttery smooth! They write a very wet line... On par with my Lamy vista. Great for notes... The piston system makes these pens probably the best starter pen, IMO. Smeden is giving a really good price on these pens...

I also have the student pen, which also has a wet line.

i am extremely happy with the performance of the 717i demos i bought from smedon last round. i have pens that cost many times as much that don't write and function as well. i'm a fan of the lamy vista, safari, and al-stars but i like these dollar pens more and i can buy three for what one vista costs. i'll be trying out all of the new models he's offering as well. pm sent.

do you think one could exchange the nibs from the calligraphy to the demo 717? Because I would love to have demo 717 with the calligraphy nib.

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng

The nib and feeder are a press fit so they are easy to remove and refit. The tricky thing would be to get them back in the right position but if you are careful this should not be too difficult.

pens arrived today less than a week after ordering them and that time included an extra post office holiday here. that is just remarkable speed coming from overseas. i got one of each, but the most interesting this time looks like the student pen with its snap cap, piston fill, ink window, and medium nib. i'm eager to try it out when i get home from work and the calligraphy nib on the 717 also which looks sort of like what i imagine an oblique italic would look like--if there is such a thing.

many thanks peter!

Mine arrived today as well and I have to agree with gteague that -much like the pens themselves- the shipping speed is very satisfactory.

Thanks, Peter!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
