Its been a while but I've brought from them several times without any problems.

The difference between the almost right word & the right word is really a large matter--it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.

Ditto on Pippin's experience. I haven't looked at their site recently. Reason I stopped was my focus changed. Probably go back and take a look.

There were previous threads on this if you hunt. My experience was decent, but there were folks who got shipped a wrong pen or reported terse contacts with them. Do a search on the forum and you should pull up pages.

Have ordered from them several times. I can remember at one point, they were the only one selling the Waterman Kulturs in the cool demo colors. They did send the wrong nib size on occasion, but are a legit seller.

  • 6 years later...

I'm late to the party here, but tried ordering a pen from them, and kept looking at their website and it showed processing, along with another order on which they had notified me that they were unable to fill. On the one in question I emailed them twice and no reply, so after 2 1/2 weeks went and put in a dispute on paypal and see the refund has processed. I was looking for an Aurora ballpoint to match a pen, in yellow, that is not too easy to find but found one at a little shop in NY state, called them and the lady checked and said she had one in her hand, so placed my order with them.

Their website address is www.engravably.com/default.asp The folks I spoke to were very nice and helpful.

As far as Montgomery pens, never again.

I had one experience with Montgomery Pens on Ebay a couple of years ago. It was not a positive one, IMO. Like jkingrph, I ended up opening a dispute; it was settled by Ebay within hours, in my favor -- I got a refund and got to keep the pens. Which were supposed to have been a set, but had different date codes on them (so, misrepresented what they were selling) -- but that's not what triggered the filing of the dispute; what triggered it was that they didn't include what all was advertised in the listing, and then got snotty about it. Bad mistake on their part, as far as I'm concerned.

They're on my "bad Ebay sellers" list now....

YMMV

I am also a victim... purchased years ago through their ebay storefront a modern Parker Snake, not a cheap pen. I asked for a specific number among those available and they shipped another one that "happened" to be worn and inked contrary to the description. Never came back,

I've bought several pens from them, and always got what I ordered. But I stopped buying from them when I placed three orders for pens listed on their website with a price of $X. They would inform me a few days later that the pen was no longer in stock. However, they would ( a ) continue to list it on eBay for a higher price, and ( b ) not take down the listing or change the price on their website.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
