Why? :unsure:

I just like looking at them. I don't know why, but I like them! Espicially the 30ml Pelikans. They look classy.

I, for one, will not be a facilitator of your new fetish.

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

I am pleased to hear that other people enjoy pen-porn and voyeurism. I believe that in my introduction I described myself as having a "prurient" interest-- not in a sexual way of course; only an obsessive attraction. I love seeing other people's expensive pens, inkwells; ink bottles and colors. I look at some of these photos with longing; some with regret-- I had a full set of Pelikan Inks in 1959 with those adorable caps that came in a wooden box that I wish I had a photographed, and a Sheaffer Skrip Turquoise with the built-in inkwell that my husband tossed into the recycling last year. I found in this network photos of the Sheaffer bottle, but still long for a photo of that beautiful set of Pelikan inks. Of course, if I had a photo of it, I would have lost that, too.

Wow, never knew ink came in so many types of bottles!

What is the purpose of having the lid down near the base and off to the side like some of these?

This is a great thread!

I beleive that there's a small inkwell type thing on that side, from the way the bottle lays. Like the MB ink bottles.

This was my ink supply maybe 2 years ago. It's more than doubled since then... :mellow:

I too, love the look of ink bottles, as well as many inkwells! Unfortunately, I have none of my own, so I rely on the internet to see some :vbg:

I'm hoping to buy some bottles soon, when I have some money..... :blink:

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
