Hi everyone

On November 24 2009 I think, or about that time, I puchased a Sheaffer pen set for $30 from Mohammed Asgar Ali and paid by Pay Pall folowing his direction. I think some of you also puchases similar item from him. I have send him a couple emails inquiring if or when the pens will be shipped but I have received no response from him. This is more than a week now. Does any of you have received the pens he/she purchased or did you have any communications from him advising shipping?? If not can any of you provide me with his forum name?

Sorry I am asking but since I am new here and is the first time I bought something in here I wonder how it works.

Any response or fedback will be appreciated.

Thank

Hi corfian,

I assume that you're referring to the Sheaffer Imperial sets sold by athar201 (Mohd Asgar Ali) in the marketplace. I also bought a set from him. After I paid, he did send me a PM with the relevant registered mail number but I never actually checked it. Anyway, I've already received my set in satisfactory condition and it took about 2 weeks to get to me.

Do try contacting him via the private message feature on the forum, you may have better luck. I think quite a few of the forumers here have purchased sets from him and have received theirs as well.

This post is probably going to be moved to another forum, but I'll ask anyway. Did you purchase the set through Fountain pen network?

Dave

p.s. I hit send after the above post. :)

Thanks for the information.it really helps.

No that I doubted Ali but went by this long without any communications from him and since I did not know where the item was/is shipped from I started wondering what happened to it.

Thanks Again

I bought one of his 21 Supers. The hood was loose, which I only found out when I filled the pen. I attribute that to 40+ years including who knows how long in arid Kuwait, so that's far less a complaint than an observation. It's not damaged, and I'll clean and then shellac some time soon.

The reason I contribute is to say I ordered something like the 10th of November and got mine around the 7th of December. It apparently just takes a while to get mail from Kuwait.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
