THE BIG French Clairefontaine Order

GouletPens

Recommended Posts

Foolish question?

If this works out well for Goulet Pens and FPN members, will it be repeated regularly? Such as quarterly or half-yearly or some such?

I think what I'm going to do is have it more on a continuous basis. The most complicated thing I did was to try to coordinate one 'big' order, when really I could have just placed an order anytime. If you're interested in getting stuff from France, just let me know, I'll get you a price, and I'll put it in on the next shipment that's coming over....you won't have to wait as long and there won't be as many complicated logistics as there were for this order. How's that sound?

It should be on its way to me! It arrived last week at Exaclair and they were to ship it to me late last week or early this week. I'll let everybody know when it arrives at my house. Very soon!

You could be exactly the person I'm looking for!

A few of us have been talking in this chain: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/153914-smaller-than-85x11-30-colors-smooth-or-linen-like-textured-paper/

and someone mentioned the Pollen line of Clairefontaine paper - and I am extremely interested in giving it a go. I'm looking fo the 6x9 (roughly that) but will go for 8.5x11 and cut it myself if needed. I'd like to test a few of the colors but don't know if they sell samples or you have to buy a 50pg packet. Whatever it is I'm willing to pay for it - but I can't find anywhere to order it (in English). My French is nowhere near good enough and that's better than my German and Dutch lol. Can you help?

thanks!

That does sound like what you're after, and I certainly can order it for you directly from France. However, to do so you'd have to purchase the minimum quantities, which for the Pollen A4 you're after is 10 packs of 50 sheets, and at around $15 a pack, that's $150 plus shipping. Not exactly cheap to try! But you're more than welcome to try to split up the order with some other folks. The French catalog is online here: http://clairefontaine-rhodia-2010.e-catalogues.info/index.asp - just let me know what you're interested in and I can give you the price and minimum quantity.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
