Hello from Toronto Ontario

I have been collecting pens for 3 years and I own about 140 pens.

My main interest is Parkers and Sheaffers but I also own few Watermans Mont Blanc Pelikans and nice Omas Paragon.

My first pen was a Waterman Expert II that I bought about 7 years ago but I really started to collect only pens 3 years ago when I went to the Toronto antique Market and found there a Perker 21 and a Waterman 512 and I never looked back since.

Most of my pens are a combination of pre WW2 until the 1970s.

Some of my pens where bought in antique shops in the Toronto area but most of the pens I bought are from a good friend that is a pen collector and an antique dealer in Florida. Sadly I don’t know anyone in Toronto that collect pen so I have nobody to talk to about pens (and my wife is tired of hearing of pens) so this forum gives me an opportunity to read and see what other pen collector like and think and share my love for fountain pens with them.

My favorite pen which I don’t write with and keep in my curio cabinet is my Mont Blanc 149.My daily writer was the Omas Paragon but because its constantly skip I bought a Pelikan M800 for my daily writer.

I will be happy to hear from you and especially from anyone that leaves in Toronto or the GTA to chat about pens or anything else.

Respect to all

Welcome. You seem to be much bitten with the fountain pen bug. I have only been collecting pens starting earlier this year and I love it. Sheaffers are my favorite pens. You'll be able to find alot of folks here that will chat with you about pens. This is a very friendly group with a number of Canadian members.

I am out of the country (in Israel visiting) but will be back to see the pen show, hope I will not suffer from a jet lag.I am planing to meet Richard Beender to fix my skipping Omas Paragon and probably buy a pen or two (dieing to get another Parker to my collection).

I'v been at the pen show 2 years ago and really enjoyed myself and bought few pens (a beautuful Parker striped Duofold and a stainless steel Parker 75).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
