All very nice pictures since I last looked in this thread.

Scrolling back all of a sudden something looked familiar on this watch.

Here's a shot of my custom mod Seiko Monster with a Levenger True Writer:

Somehow reminds me of something :hmm1: ever since I got me one of those much loved Seiko 5 watches. ;)

Here is my contribution, some lovely watch and pen combinations on the forum!

Mine are a Breitling windrider cockpit, my beloved and much used Chopin and my newish Waterman Carene.

I will post better shots when I can, sorry for the blurry image!

There are some seriously nice pens and watches in this thread, and great pictures, too. I especially like the vintage pairings. Here's my meager contribution:

Can you say student budget?! Maybe one day I will grow up to be like Robert...

and mine...

What kind of watch is that? It is very nice. :)

A little arrogant to answer on someone's elses behalf, but its an A. Lange & Sohne- the Patek Philipe of Germany.

About as good a brand as you can get in the world.

Thanks. I am very familiar with Patek Philipe, but I never heard of A. Lange & Sohne.

Lovely watch. Saw them in a store in Berlin and they are really nice in real time. Liked the Double Split the best. But maybe a bit to thick for my taste.

Also nice people. Asked for a folder and they send me a book with nice pictures.

Actually, thanks Doug C for replying on my behalf, as I only check in sporadically.

lak611, it's a small brand for sure, and it doesn't have the visibility/recognition of PP. But I like it nonetheless. The one pictured is an "1815 auf & ab." They don't make this particular model anymore. I got this one in 1998.

Beautiful pieces (esp GP!) Dani Trio is also lovely. But I've always gotten a kick out of the Japanese and how they name things. For example... bikes. Here are some bizzaro frame names of some famous Japanese bikes:

Bomber Pro

Level

Kalavinka

Samson

Vivalo

Ganwell Pro

(and there are more...)

(for the bike cognoscenti out there, Nagasawa should be on that list, but that just sounds too... Japanese.)

Seriously though, I like yours better. Beautiful watch and very elegant way of putting a Dutch touch to it with the Delfts Blauw (Delft Ware).

No sorry, should have said, that's just a picture from their website. I only wish I owned one! But like you said if only they were cheaper, but then they wouldn't be so nice I guess.

Know about them because they're Dutch and so am I. :) And all their watches have something Dutch in them which is a really nice touch IMO.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
