I'll be away until then, but Peter H is looking to get our paper guy to come through with his promise about a Vintage Paper presentation.
Hope that works.

First Melbourne Pen Club meeting for 2010 in a couple of weeks, folks...

Not even!

Monday 8th Jan at the Tower Hotel in Hawthorn at 6:30 (Dinner) and 7:30 (Talk).

I have to admit to a lazy way out for this one ;-)

Our last meet was Duncan Alexander (Tiger Papers) who brought all sorts of goodies for us to look at and take home to enjoy.

He made a subtle offer that i couldn't refuse.

So he will be there again (I sed I wuz lazy)

But the talk this time is VINTAGE PAPERS

I had no idea there was such a thing until he dropped the hint last time

BE THERE!

Well that was quite successful (to put it mildly).
New members, nice talk, now a call to the management about the top table for a little more peace and quiet.

A magic talk from Duncan Alexander of Dragon Papers about Vintage Papers.
I could go on, but the whole thing is mind boggling and it is actually amazing to be able to write on proper paper that is actually designed for fountain pens - or ink in general.
Amazing to think of a single sheet of paper being worth more than some of the very finest pens!

Next meeting will be April 10 at the Tower Hotel and I have asked Pam Sutton to give us a talk on the evolution of the mechanical pencil mechanism.
These mechanical pencils have been around for hundreds of years and Pam is a major authority on this, so please let's support her and diarise the date and see if we can top last night's attendance.

Hi Max,

It was indeed a very enjoyable meeting, it was so refreshing to see new faces there. Some of Pam's pencils were really pretty (I saw them at the last Melb. Pen Show), and I can't wait to hear what she has to say about them.

thanks for bringing me over to the topic and the meeting.
Looking forward to it.
My leaky Wall St has been sent off to Italy a month ago, of course has not been received yet but they seem very nice in Italy!!
Next time I'll be sure to bring a pen or two that are in tip-top shape
cheers
