i just got a 750 yesterday. really quite impressed. the converter seems top notch too, for a chinese pen. works as well as any other i've used (pilot 50, lamy, etc)...

Kwisatz, I think you've been very lucky so far. The Jinhao's, when they use convertors, use the 'International' size - or Pelikan size as it's also known. So, the Lamy & Parker c/c's should be too big.

Richard.

Anyway, the standard converters are trash.

I threw them out.

I used Parker cartridges for refills with a syringe, but that can be a mess too. If the openings become buggered.

Does anyone know of a converter that can fit these pens ?

Hi,

I equipped a different Jinhao pen with a Waterman converter. Fits perfectly, and it even holds more ink than the chinese one.

Have a nice day!

This pen (or its Bulow twin...which is the same pen)was one of my first FP purchases and it has written very well and performed reliably for me. I now have vintage 51s, Esterbrooks, a Pilot Custom 823, Watermans, and this pen writes good enough for me to keep along with those just mentioned. I suppose I was fortunate not to have to do any extra maintenance to get it to write that well and as such would recommend it from the Xfountain pen company (I make millions of dollars off of promoting these pens due to my heavy investments in their stock...joke ) :roflmho:

CAN I SUGGEST THAT IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WASH OUT THE CONVERTOR THOROUGHLY WITH AMONIA SOLUTION OR SOAP WHICHshould fix the problems. regards Bryan

I agree. I've never experienced any problems with any of my 750's. However, I have had problems with other Chinese brands, but never Jinhao. I normally use Windex, that's formulated with ammonia, prior to inking. So far, they work great! Especially when paired with Noodler's Eel branded inks.

Mine says "Bulow" on it, but it sounds like the same pen. Actually, I have a few of them; they were a set of 5, very inexpensive.

I have the same problems with them, but I solve it by just keeping a vial of the ink there and dipping as needed.

I'm not clever with repairs, so this is my "fix"!

Check the recently posted review on the Jinhao X450 started by ImolaS3. Since, they're basically the same pen; there seems to be a great fix for your problem. Also, have you tried to replace the converter or considered using pre-filled cartridges?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
